If a man is cruel to his own dog, he has no business complaining that ordinary folks don’t trust him with their safety.

That went from kicking to stomping in less than a paragraph.

I wonder what else isn’t right?

And the person recording the incident will no doubt be arrested for somehow interferring with a cop abusing his K9 partner; a cop shoots a homeowners dog, meh, a homeowner shoots a K9 and it’s 40 years in jail.

There's a serious problem with goon cops in this country. But, we only hear about it when there's a racial angle. Then, everyone sides with their tribe and it's 1970 again.

I love dogs. I have fostered them. I have wonderful dogs that I would protect with my life.

But these K9s in law enforcement and military are tools. They are not family pets along for the ride. They are expendable tools.
The officers and soldiers love these dogs simply because they are attached to them. But they have conditioned themselves to realize the K9s are tools.

Sick .gov on him.

Federal law protects police 'animals', the Federal Law Enforcement Animal Protection Act of 2000 covers it.

Wait a minute, this was a dangerous situation where the cops are getting ready for entry, all the guns are drawn, yet this cop takes the time to slap around and kick the K9 while standing directly in front of the door of the targeted home?

No bueno. This does not compute.

This is nothing compared to what this guy did:

He sued and got back pay and legal fees. I can't tell if they rehired him.

In June, a sheriff’s deputy was caught on a hotel surveillance system sadistically beating his own dog.

Dogs don't normally talk. I suspect it's considered safer talking out your roided up aggresion on a dumb animal.

Of course, if I were caught striking one of these animals, I'd be charged with assaulting an "officer". I can't stand cruelty to animals, but such laws are insane.

That ‘officer’ should be removed from the K-9 division. In fact he’s got no business being a cop. Fire His ass..

This is the same kind of idiot that would leave the dog to die in a van.

Has no business being around dogs.

Dogs are tools, but they’re not robots. If a $20-30K weapon fails to fire, we move on, we don’t beat the weapon against the deck so the crew can watch, right? (not to mention if we did do that, we’d be on the carpet for damaging govt property). Self-confidence is the number one trait demanded of a police dog - the trait that saves lives. An animal can’t be intimidated into being self-confident.

The dog gets a passive send and telegraphs confusion by looking back at the handler, who might as well be vacuuming with all the energy he sent the dog with. When dog sits, dog is clearly saying, hey buddy, there’s a communication issue here. Are we at Aunt Tillies or what? Trust in the handler is further broken by ‘trapping’ and then hitting/kneeing. [What was the dog supposed to do, anyway? go Cujo and eat the doorknob?].

The second the dog’s butt hit the ground, he should have been recalled and re-sent with higher energy. Kenneling up, removing him from the ‘fun’, will send a stronger message to the dog than smacking him on the nose. And kenneling up may momentarily mean being one man off, but isn’t it better to return the focus of the remaining officers off a dog being harshly disciplined (and that psychological impact) back onto the existing threat - namely, the perp inside? imo
