These people are hopeless. Count me on the side of the zombies.

I really enjoyed the Falling Skies finale. But only because perfectly embodied everything that’s been annoying me about the show (I’d actually decided to quit watching it halfway through last year, then they announced this year would be the last and I just had to see how the trainwreck ended), and amped those things up to the point of comedy. I almost fell off my couch laughing when Pope showed up just long enough to die on his own. They achieved self mocking, it was great.

"The Falling Skies season finale was so disappointing!

:("

Right? It was like the audience got trolled.

After five years, the aliens just *poofed* into thin air. Gone!

Okay...I read that a publicity pic from an upcoming episode shows Travis in a tank.

I hope that isn't a Dukakis moment.

That's the only explanation. The first time he showed up and got "killed", it was so quick and pointless and stupid that you knew he'd be back in the end.

He didn't even die well. He just kind of shrugged and then deflated, like somebody let the air out of a life-sized balloon.

Great.

Junkies with tanks.

I’m losing faith in this series.

I was hoping for a ‘view from the authorities’ series. What did the CDC do? What did Washington do? We know how it unfolds so they wouldn’t spoil it for us.

Instead we have a family Dear Abbie could have made a career out of.

Pope was one of my chief complaints with the show. Largely because he kept doing the same story arc. He started as a jerk loner who hated everybody and worked against the team, and then learned to love, and then reset every off season back to jerk mode. I was actually pleasantly surprised when season 5 started and he wasn’t a jerk... then they killed his girlfriend in ep 3 and he goes SUPER jerk. Then we get that dumb plot line with him kidnapping the Mason kid, then he disappears and we run into him again and he’s turned into some half-assed Governor hosting gladiator contest. Then he gets half a building dumped on him. Some how survives that, crawls out without anybody in the 2nd Mass noticing, stumbles his way to the exact spot where Tom meets the Dornia, and dies. Every bad story telling habit they had went through Pope.

Then of course there’s the space marital aid the Dornia gave Tom to kill the queen (it even squirts virus out of one end, DUDE). That was hilarious. And he infects the queen and she blows up?! Yet still somehow infect all the other Espheni who also blow up?! Oh and it turns out the Espheni are getting revenge for their failed invasion 15 thousand years ago. So I guess we didn’t need the marital aid, Tom just needed to stab the queen with a pointy stick.

I could do hours on this show. It’s comedy gold.

I agree with all of that, LOL.

My friend who turned me onto the show five years ago-—just wouldn’t shut up until I watched-—was so disgusted by the end of the series that she was just, “All I need is for this show to be over.”

About Pope-—yeah, the showrunners never seemed to know what direction to take him in. It was back and forth, like you said. I’ll be honest, I got tired of his endless harping, and there are some jerk/villainous characters I absolutely love (Simcoe from TURN being a current one). Pope, though, had no redeeming features for me, no humor...he was just a PITA. Then they just made him cartoonishly evil.

And what was up with Anthony going along with Pope....just because Weaver took his gun away? What?

My husband was going on about the primitives killing the queen’s daughter with spears, apparently with no problem, and it took modern day Americans five years to get a grip.

Too bad Mystery Science Theater isn’t still around.

LOL

Travis is the dad, but I mean, does he look like tank material to you? I don’t know....they all seem so hapless.

And they didn’t even take the cartload of food from the school! The principal was DEAD. A couple of year in, and they’ll be scrounging stale M&Ms, like Michonne.

Now seeing the POV from the CDC would have been interesting.

Pope did have one point: everybody did just accept Mason’s yarns at face value, and nothing bad ever happened to them. Heck Tom even got a wife upgrade thanks to the invasion, Anna was way hotter and nicer than what we saw of wife 1.

And then Anthony unPTSDs in a snap.

Joel Hodgson (main guy from MST3K) does rifftrax now, basically the same thing but it’s audio only so you play it while watching the movie (keeps him from needing to get the rights). Maybe if enough of us request it he’ll start doing Falling Skies riffs.

Tom was a speechifier, no doubt. He was nice eye candy, though.

I think the show started to bug me when they re-did the Mechs. I loved the first version, and I thought they were genuinely scary.

Then off we went into “WTH” territory, with Nazi schools for kids, etc.

I’m going to check out rifftrax and make a request.
