Prediction Markets: Jeb Bush Likely to Beat Donald Trump for 2016
newsweek ^ | 8-26-2015 | Reuters

Real estate mogul Donald Trump is dominating polls and capturing headlines in the Republican presidential race, but rival Jeb Bush is still the favorite of traders in political prediction markets.

While Bush has been eclipsed by Trump in opinion polls, the former Florida governor is riding high with online traders who give him a 40 percent chance to capture the party's presidential nomination, according to prediction market aggregator PredictWise.com.

Florida Senator Marco Rubio is a distant second with a 15 percent chance, and Trump has risen to third in recent weeks with 14 percent, according to PredictWise, which aggregates about a half-dozen political prediction markets.

Those markets, in which traders bet on the outcomes of various events, often have a better track record than polls in determining a winner in elections. Bush has been their favorite since mid-2014, said David Rothschild, an economist who runs PredictWise.

"Jeb Bush has been steady at the top at between 45 percent and 40 percent, where he is now. He certainly hasn't fallen off noticeably," Rothschild said.

If Yeb! is the nominee, I’ll write-in Ted Cruz. Under no circumstances will I vote for Yeb!

Even if Jeb picked Jesus Christ as his vice-president I wouldn’t vote for him.

Well, I must say, if my Lord and Redeemer is on the ticket He gets my vote. But that is the ONLY way I'd vote for Bush. If he's the nominee I pray that we have a Trump/Cruz 3rd party option to vote for. Otherwise I stay home.

Who does Jeb pull from when other Repubs drop out? Who does Trump pull from?

The question is not can Jeb win the nomination. The question is can he win the election. The GOPe had better start dealing with that. Pretty soon, too.

There’s a lot of corrupt process in place to hand the nomination to the establishment candidate, even if he doesn’t win the vote. Colorado’s recent maneuver for instance.

Bears repeating. And, SC’s recent *pledge* tricks, as well.

I won’t vote at all. Period.

You and see eye to eye on this issue. If The Sheeple are clueless enough to continue with the likes of Obama or Bush, it might be time to consider a new country for residence. This Nation is circling the drain.

This is total trash on both the Republican and Democratic primaries. It is stricking to see how nuts these “experts” really are.

The GOPe doesn’t care if they win the general election. As long as they keep a conservative from winning, they have accomplished their objective.

I have never liked Trump, but the more The Cheap Labor Express does to stop him, the closer I get to shoving him down their throats.

I guess you have a very good angle here. The next president is gonna have a hell of a mess to deal with. Maybe that is their strategy. It is just a “hot potato” they really don’t want to deal with. Even more reason to support Trump. Day by day, it appears more and more as if he really does want it. I had my doubts for weeks but he just keeps on keeping on.

The GOP does not care if he wins, they just want to prevent us from electing anyone who would stop The Cheap Labor Express.

If 75% of “True” Conservatives stay home rather than vote for Bush, the Rats win.

Maybe the polling houses should run that and see what it means for the Establishment.

If Bush does not make it as a politician, he has a great future as a comedian.
