You prefer the border be flexible?
And fixed fortifications have also proven to be effective and easy to maintain in the past as well.
See Great wall of China. As long as it was defended it did not fall.
Anything built by man can be defeated by man. - Multiple sources and variants
Apparently all liberals. They seem to be of the opinion that if something is not perfect then why bother.
They also lack the ability to think of doing upgrades.
Dead men can't invade - Me
So you are going to wipe out the entire planet? Yep. You are a liberal.
The wall or staying on their side of the wall?
No, no, no, no, no.
Democrat voters never assume any risk. The government is to be there to protect them at all times against all things. They are to be protected from injury at all costs.
Didn’t you know?
50’ high, 30’ across to run the length of the US / Mexico border with the word “TRUMP” displayed in gold every 1/2 mile.
“So by this logic anything that would impede a criminal from stealing or committing any other crime might be construed to be a dangerous because undeterred they might come to harm?”
You’re applying logic to the illogical. That can only end well by pure chance.
No. Go back to my original post. A barrier of concertina wire, followed by mine fields, followed by machine guns. There would be warnings on the wire about the guaranteed use of lethal force. This is simple and effective solution that can be quickly deployed. It's a hell of lot cheaper and low maintenance.
Thanks for the link.
I am not talking about wiping out the entire planet. I am talking about allowing a few illegals make the mistake of killing themselves in mine fields. The messsge will be clear. Death awaits you, and the invasion will stop. BTW, This isn't China 1,200 years ago.
You need to read some history before calling Patton and others liberals. From your name I can only assume you are spineless, poorly read and willing to spend large sums of tax dollars on ineffective solutions that make you feel safe.
But then they come over here and disrespect our laws and culture, thereby transforming us into another Mexico.
Not seeing a downside here.
DUH! That is the whole POINT.
My preferred option is two walls at least half a mile apart, with a labyrinth laden with deadly traps in between. It would be modular so we could change the maze every week or two so people can’t learn the safe path through it.
Then, I’d leave the doors wide open on each side. Those who want to try to come over would be free to do so, but only a few of the cleverest and most physically fit would survive.
Is there any practical difference between a fixed fortification and a fixed obstacle like the minefields you favor?
Trump’s wall would be deadly? Sheesh, it’d be NOTHING compared to mine.
Mine would have a quad-.50 every mile along the border, mounted in towers about 300 yards back of the fence and in towers 150 feet or so high. They’d be aimed by thermal-imaging and motion-detectors, and have a minimum of 10,000 rounds each. Oh, and there would be at least a couple dozen company-sized units of para-military border patrol in key sectors, armed with grenade launchers, mortars and anti-tank missiles. No one is crossing that border without paying a price.
Don’t want to be hurt, OK, I’m not looking to hurt you. Just come in via the permitted pathways (literally and legally). Otherwise, there are no rules but “We win.”
With gators, crocs, lions, hyenas, etc. Don't be half-arsed about it. :>)
As well it should be for all illegal alien invaders.
Cost to implement, cost to maintain, time to implement, flexibility (additional tactics can used when required and there will be money to do so) and lastly deadly deterrent (don't screw with us or you are dead)
