The geniuses in the Washington, D.C.- centered GOP establishment have a new plan to take down 2016 Republican frontrunner Donald Trump: Infiltrate his inner circle posing as an ally, then use their fabricated support of him to secretly plot to take him down.
But now they all admit: They were wrong, Trump is real, and he has a serious shot at winning this thing.
Just like Humphrey Bogart said in Casablanca, I was misinformed, Alex Castellanos, one such consultant, said of Trump in an interview with Bloomberg Politics on Friday. Hes grown. He started off as the anti-Washington candidate, the angry mans candidate, now hes becoming not just an anti-them vote but a pro-him. Hes becoming the Make America Great Again candidate and that gives him room for growth.
Anybody who discounts Donald Trumphes going to be around through the convention nowI think is making a mistake, Castellanos added.
From there, the conversation turned to how Castellanos thinks Trump might be taken downand who might do it. He said:
Well you have two angles to look at thathes sitting on a bunch of people down there on the conservative side. Hes sitting on Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)96%
. I doubt Ben Carson is going to do anything about that, but at some point Ted Cruz is going to wake and figure this race is going to end and Im never going to catch up. Then on the other side, the establishment side, you can wait a little longer. Whether its a Carly Fiorina or a Jeb Bush or a Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)80% , dont stand in front of the tsunami right now and just coalescebecome a better, stronger candidate so you can be in the lead when everyone turns not to Trump but to the anti-Trump.

IF, and it’s a BIG if, anyone can “take Trump down, we are not going to know who that is until there are only 4-5 left in the race.
We are in uncharted territory here ... and it’s about time.
What a great GOPe idea! Of course, once again, consider the electorate so stupid that we can't figure this one out.
For a long time, I was a Cruz supporter. Actually, I still am. But, with the way Trump is going it would be good to have Trump/Cruz for eight years...followed by a Cruz presidency.
Why would the GOPe want us to turn to the anti-Trump? We have one already. His name is Obama.
Cruz is pragmatic enough to accept a 2nd spot with the knowledge that he would be a shoo in 8 years later. JMHO.
The hell you say! Something new under the sun!
Cruz for 8 years of V.P. to get the ‘government’ part of the country working right again, he's the politician that people respect and love and he can do that...
then bamb....8 years of Cruz being POTUS...he continues on with what Trump has done over 8 years, Cruz brings in a good, reliable, likable person for his V.P. for 8 years....
This is the ‘long term’ Make America Great Again!!!
This morning on Fox, Daily Caller’s Tucker Carlson asked a guest “...how do we kill Trump...how do we kill his political career...”
I’m sure Trump has never experienced anything like this. He’s gonna be so surprised. sarc off
How is taking Trump down going to elevate the GOP? It is exactly the people who want to destroy Trump that the base is rebelling against. Foolish elites, or stupid elites, they will lose even if they succeed in getting their candidate the nomination.
Besides that, I believe him when he says he'll get the best people in there instead of political hacks.
What's amazing is that the GOP has finally come out as the party of deceit and back-stabbing. At least the Democrats never had to do that - we always knew what they were about.

Trump’s entire life has been about making big deals, and he views this campaign as the biggest deal ever. So anyone who thinks he hasn’t already considered the possibility of such a juvenile, transparent plot isn’t very bright. Trump already has the best and brightest people available to him, and I predict that very few of the traditional political operatives will find employment with Campaign Trump.
So wait. Let me get this straight.
Genius plan:
1. Secretly infiltrate Trump’s campaign
2. Tell everybody the secret in advance
By jove! I think it’s going to work!
This is how the game is played today. Our GOP leaders are just such infiltrators. Same thing happened to the Boy Scouts, the Tea party, and pretty much everything else.
That woman holding the baby. That smile. Is it just me or is that just a little scary?
...how do we kill Trump...how do we kill his political career...
Is that kind of language more suggestive than the Confederate flag?
I guess asking the GOP to attack the Democrat candidates would be too much to ask.
