Doctor Who should never be played by a woman, according to the novelist and comedian AL Kennedy.
The Costa award-winning writer, whose Doctor Who book The Drostens Curse was published this summer, believes the characters eccentricity should remain blokey.
Speaking at the Edinburgh international book festival, Kennedy said: As a heterosexual woman, I have no interest in a female Doctor. Hes kind of got a guy vibe, the Doctor. A hopeless, undomestic, dozy, dreamy guy-type of eccentricity. Its not a girl-type of eccentricity. Id be surprised if he changed gender.
Instead, she made a plea for the creation of characters who were iconic and marvellous for women. Lets have faith that you can do that. Make the companions ballsy and wonderful. Lets make wonderful parts that were designed for women.

The Tardis is a female.
There are also the Doctor’s grand-daughter from the first series and “the Doctor’s Daughter” from I think the David Tennant series. If they want a female time lady, then use them. Until that time we have Dr. River Song.
She could be a chain-smoking dalek. Wearing some dior or gucci thingy.
