I am overwhelmed. Thank you, Nea, and everyone else.
I am sending a paypal payment to FR.
What you have created, JR, is a real place, like a virtual town square, where people of all ages, stripes, colors, whatever, can come together and speak, soul to soul. It is a real miracle. The Lord was working through you, I have no doubt.
I somehow feel like watching my favorite movie of all time, ‘It’s a Wonderful Life.” :) Watched that when I was very depressed in law school and it changed my life. :)
Thank you very much, proud American in Canada!! God bless.
Remember that it’s okay to be sad. It’s not your job to make others think you’re happy. What anyone else other than you wants you to do is their self indulgent BS, including me. Be exactly who you are and feel exactly what you’re going through. When you feel it, experience it, know it for the thing it is, it stops being the world and is like a little snowglobe with ashes instead of snow, a dark experience you went through and you became “more you” rather than less at the end. It never goes away, that snowglobe of ashes becomes a souvenir of a dark time when you held on, and put you in a place to tell others and help others to hang on. It never ever again becomes your world.
I know this to be true.
I was just thinking today of that movie. More specifically the quote iirc: “Well - you’re nothing more than a frustrated YOUNG man....Why - you’re worth more dead than alive.”
Years ago I would think about suicide (worth more dead than alive) - but I’m guessing my wife and kids would prefer me around rather than the insurance money. (Although some days I wonder!) Today I was thinking more of the frustrated part.
Life is hard. My twin daughters did the cutting thing for awhile. I think it was more attention-getting stuff than something deeper as they got over it. Although they still deal with times of depression.
My rules for life :
1) Life isn’t fair.
2) Nothing is easy.
3) It’s always something.
4) God is Sovereign
The fourth rule is a fairly new one that I added, and that I am still learning about.
