Crews are still on the scene of a massive sinkhole in Brooklyn.
It stretches across two lanes at the corner of 64th Street and 5th Avenue in Sunset Park.
It happened around 7 a.m.
Officials believe a water main leak occurred in a cast iron pipe, washing away the soil and collapsing the road.
National Grid and Con Edison are on the scene and have shut off utilities in the area including a six inch gas main in order to make the needed repairs, which is expected to take most of the day.
Traffic on secondary roads is being affected as workers begin to make the needed repairs.
The FDNY says no injuries have been reported.
Global Warming?
No money for infrastructure...
Plenty of money for illegals.
Hasn’t it always been a sinkhole??
“Businesses and residents say they are looking forward to things getting back to normal.”
In Brooklyn?!
That is not much of a hole. And it’s probably caused by a broken water pipe.
I don’t know if broken water pipe damage constitutes a sink hole.
“Global Warming?”
Nope, fraking.
Run for the hills, folks, or you’ll be up to your armpits in Martians!
Isn’t “Brooklyn sinkhole” redundant?
No, that is “Stink hole”.
