Your posts are in line with my thinking on Wilson, and actually on ANY player. I go further though. Nobody (except Wisconsin fans and foes) even knew who in the world this 6ft 190lb Russell Wilson was about 3 years ago, and now his status is nearly god-like to some. Not that he isn’t incredibly good in all the things you mentioned—he is.

But one turf-toe or god-forbid knee injury later, he goes into the scrap-heap with RGIII and dozens before him. His greatest asset is mobility and quickness.

No one player should be given as much credit as they’re often given, no one player should be given as much blame as they’re often given.

When the team’s star QB is gone for whatever reason (retirement, injury, burnout, drugs etc etc), another complete unknown—or maybe some other superstar—will rise up and do a great job at some point on every NFL team, on every college football team, and every high school team. And everyone will talk about them like no one could ever win again without them.

I recognize the effect of great players on team success, and good for them to take the ridiculous money offered, but personally I grant NO ONE on any team such reverence, and I don’t consider anyone a lock on winning (or losing). Look at Peyton Manning in the Denver-Seattle Super Bowl... one of the hall-of-fame greats in NFL history—horrible!

And on the flip side, when Ohio State lost their superstar QB and his awesome backup too before the Big 10 championship game, the smart money just knew that the season was over for OSU. Except the previously unknown 3rd string QB had other thoughts and abilities. Bet not 25k people other than OSU fans and die-hard football followers could name him right now even (Cardale Jones—who completely outplayed the great Heisman winner whom NO ONE could beat!) All Cardale did was lead OSU in destroying Wisconsin in the Big 10 Championship, Alabama in the BCS Playoff, and Oregon in the National Championship. And he wasn’t just a forlorn, barely capable “field general” (like Trent Dilfer in his Super Bowl season), he kicked friggin ass in each game. Cardale WHO??

These reasons are why I never grant hero nor goat status to ANY football player, especially QBs.

Just my thoughts... I realize I don’t know more than anyone else...

I live in Seattle so I have the distinct pleasure of watching the Seahawks every week. If you want to beat these guys, you’d better bring your ‘A’ game and be ready for a friggin’ brawl.

The way contracts go these days, yep good on him!
However, this could very well be the nail in the Seahawks coffin. Huge contracts equal smaller contracts for everyone else, so they are going to have to shed more talent on other positions to pay for him.
If the Seahaks can find a balance or super good less known players like the Packers and Patriots always seem to do, they may be OK.

I wonder if they will ever put on the throw back uniforms from that era. Lets hope not but they aren’t as bad as the Steelers jailhouse uni’s

Well the big one is LB Bobby Wagner, whose contract is up after the 2015 season. If we can’t sign him, I’m pretty sure we’ll slap the franchise tag on him next year. I believe the rest of our players are locked up for a while, although rumors are, Kam Chancellor is grumbling about wanting to re-do his deal.

I out here in Washington state and knew of him when he was at NC State where he had great stats as well. They made a hugh mistake by allowing him to transfer his senior year to Wisconsin. I was totally excited when the Hawks drafted him and was not surprised he came out as the starter his rookie year.

I like Russell Wilson, who is a Christian, and not afraid to say it. The only reason the media did not target him like they did Tebow is probably because of his race? Political correctness at play.... Russel is without a doubt a class act.

Although when looking at NFL stats you have to consider the rules of the game. The NFL has so many rules about QBs now even from 10 years ago. It's turned largely into a passing game.

If you compared the guys I grew up to Roger Staubach, Terry Bradshaw, Joe Theisman, Joe Montana, Troy Aikman and Brett Favre. They were QBs under different NFL rules, and all of them got hit pretty hard. To me these guys are the Titans of NFL football.

Tom Brady is a great QB but now has that cloud over him. You know, I would probably believe Tom if he did destroy his phone when the NFL asked for it. That action alone tells h is probably guilty, and Tom is only getting a slap on the hand from the NFL.

I was a huge Darryl the Mad Bomber” Lamonica / Radier fan. My brother loved Namath and the Jets. Those guy’s stats wouldn’t even qualify them for any awards if they played in today’s college or pro program.

The only ones I couldn’t stand as a kid were Bradshaw, but that was more of hate for the Steelers then anything else, or Griese, but I loved the smash mouth run game of the Dolphins!.

Sad but true. A win in SB 50 will go a long way to rid us of that pain.
