Donald Trump has been effective in empathizing with the plight of struggling Americans, but the brash way he's going about it won't have staying power in the race for the White House, former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor told CNBC on Friday.
"I think Donald Trump ... [has] been effective at standing up and saying, 'Hey, I get what people are going through.' He can say some outrageous things. I think some of the language that was used vis-a-vis the [Mexican] immigrants ... [were] very divisive, very ugly and not a sustainable kind of rhetoric," said Cantor, who served seven terms as a Republican congressman from Virginia.

Just my opinion, however.
Eric Cantor is effective... at being a loser.
Sincerely,
Donald Trump
Shut up Eric! Tend to your vegetable garden.
trump-effective-but-too-outrageous-eric-cantor-says
Trump is effective and most of the others are ineffective and need to be uch more outrageous because the general population other than the Gime-dats are outraged
” staying power” - LOL from the loser!
Too big to fail. Too arrogant to compete. Too stupid to be of any use. The only asset he had was fierce loyalty to a quisling, simpering, appeasing crybaby intent on stabbing the backs of conservatives with all his might.
Who cares what this now-K street lobbyist thinks.
Isn’t Eric Cantor the same fellow that belongs to the same “fraternity” that says of our PUTO (President under title only) we can work with him? Obama just another guy, Trump though.....watch out for that Donald fella.
And not saying what you mean is effective? How does that work for you now? Loser!
I guess Cantor thinks “illegal immigrants” is too divisive, which is why he won’t say it.
Just go away Eric.
The outrage is ours and Mr.Cantor is a product of it. Line the legislature up on the republican side and pass out the pink slips. That’s what happens when your boss “We the people” express our outrage. We don’t burn Baltimore or flash pictures of Cecil the dead lion to distract us.
I think you are right. The entire Boner/McConnell “leadership” team is a huge part of the problem.
Oddly enough we have an ineffective legislative branch and not enough outrage. So I’d say an effective and outrageous candidate is the exact measure of what we need at this point.
Cantor is a loser.
Trump may drop out. But the issues Trump has built his campaign on,
will not disappear.
Not any more. It's pretty universal that everybody outside of the DC crowd and those that own them wants the sewers cleaned out in DC.
Just my opinion, however.
Well said.
Remind me why I care what Eric Cantor thinks.
He looks like Rachael Maddow
Shut up, Eric. What is outrageous is what Obama and Congress has done to this country. Now, go away, and slither back to K Street or wherever it is you crawled off to.
Eric Cantor—even when you vote these knuckleheads out of office you can’t get rid of them.
