I am hoping FReepers can help me out here, because I am having a difficult time understanding the reaction to the recently released videos regarding Planned Parenthood selling body parts.
Pro-life people have been showing pictures of what happens at abortions for decades, and yet none of those pictures have ever produced the kind of reaction that the current videos are producing. Why is that?
Is it because money is being made? Is it because a specific location is targeted? Is it because of the macabre sort of science-fiction aspect of body parts being bought and sold? Is it because the whole thing stinks of corruption?
Everything about the abortion business has been disgusting from the beginning. None of this has been a secret. I'm sure there are many women who support abortion because they've had one, or want the option of having one. But that's been the same all along. WHAT, specifically, is it about these videos that's touching a nerve?
It's important to find out, because that's the key to ending legal abortion. IMHO.
I have to go to bed now and won't be able to respond until tomorrow, but I would be very interested in any opinions.
There is a line that has been crossed, and the slippery slope is a disturbing one.
What is to stop women from deliberately impregnating themselves, carrying it to a certain point when various tissues develop to a point where they are valuable and desirable, and submitting themselves to organizations such as Planned Parenthood who might pay them money to perform their “service”?
What if it became so commonplace that contracts were drawn up? The woman has to carry to 16 weeks...they can ONLY have their abortions performed at a certain facility, and would be paid X amounts of dollars on delivery...
What if they paid $2000?
Would the woman go right out and conceive again as soon as she could?
This sounds completely hideous. The industrial aspect makes it even more revolting and sinister.
It’s the creepiness, it’s the “let’s get something out of this”, it’s the acknowledgment that it’s a HUMAN who is being dismembered, oh yeah, it’s the dismemberment, oh yeah, it’s that dismemberment (cutting off limbs) isn’t quit the right word.
Yeah, they’ve been baby killers since day one, and they’ll be baby killers to day last, but what these videos show is that it’s not “a clump of tissues” or merely “products of conception” that is being done away with. It is a HUMAN and as a HUMAN its PARTS have MONETARY VALUE.
That freaks normal people out, but I’d be expecting the ghoul Peter Singer to come to their defense at any time.
Because they are all UTILITARIANS, and what they can use of yours, they will. And be it your heart, your lungs, your offspring or your immortal soul, they are good with that.
End rant.

And now that the evil is out in the open they will work on inoculating us from the horrific evil of it, desensitizing us so that we see the “value” of it like they do.
Then they will move on to other members of society that can be harvested so their “worthless” lives can contribute something of value to those who DO matter - defined of course, by the harvesters and the corporate and govt overlords.
WHY, all of a sudden, are people seeing these videos, listening to them, and REACTING?

IMO, because of 2 reasons:
1. The indoctrinated pro-aborts are hearing this from abortionists themselves, and the abortionists are unconverted and still active, instead of like the anti-aborts who have seen the errors of their ways. The indoctrinated buy all of the propaganda and look upon the converted abortionists as religious zealots.
2. The anti-aborts (like myself) see the “banality of evil” used to describe Nazis and their nonchalance at murder and genocide. Formerly, some anti-aborts took the pro-aborts at their word, that they wanted abortion to be safe, legal, and rare. These videos put the lie to those words, with the revelations coming straight from the abortionists’ mouths.
Does the phrase “trafficking in human body parts” help put it in perspective? Because that is what it is.
Thank you, everyone, for your replies. I think I understand it a little better now. The most important thing seems to be that this DETAILS the horror and is NOT provided by opponents of abortion — it is the words of the proponents of it so can be trusted by those who might not otherwise believe opponents. I’ve always been able to follow the slippery slope, and assumed everyone else could, too. That’s a mistake.
So, to make some progress in this battle, we have to focus on revealing the ACTIONS of abortion proponents, rather than the IDEAS behind our concerns. Report, rather than “preach to the choir.”
