Mr. Megan was in the Corps and there was an Apache kid who was a recruit with him who wasn’t scared of anything and he never flinched when he got yelled at. A DI tried to provoke him once and he very quietly said to the DI, “You don’t scare me. A wise man would ask himself why not.”
After that the Apache boy was left alone.
That looks like social media bullying in person. lol.

Boy, that suggestion made me think of something I hadn’t thought of in years. When I went thru Airborne School, we had to recite Robert E. Lee’s farewell speech to the Army of Northern VA while we did pushups. Times have changed.
“After four years of arduous service marked by unsurpassed courage and fortitude, the Army of Northern Virginia has been compelled to yield to overwhelming numbers and resources...” Can’t remember the rest, but I sure knew it at the time. Didn’t want to go to the gig pit.

Those are his civilian glasses. He is probably getting his very first “welcome” after stepping off the bus at the reception/in processing center. He’ll get his new, ugly glasses very soon thereafter, i.e., ones that are supposed to withstand the rigors of training and combat.
