Man Attempts Selfie with Rattlesnake

Recently, though, a San Diego man thought it might be an idea to take a selfie with a rattlesnake.

Some might think this has all the sense of taking a boa constrictor clubbing. However, as KGTV in San Diego reported, Todd Fassler picked a rattlesnake out of the brush and thought he might memorialize the event.

The snake had other ideas and bit him.....His medical expenses could be described as expensive. KGTV’s Dan Haggerty tweeted Fassler’s bill — for $153,161.25. Of this, more than $83,000 was for “pharmacy.” His case reportedly depleted the antivenom supplies at two local hospitals.

My thought exactly, if he keeps trying this hard he will surely win a Darwin Award someday.

Darwin Honorable Mention.
Despite a valiant & laudable attempt, failed to remove himself from the gene pool.

according to this article (ugh! it’s an al jazeera link), the hospital markup on that antivenin is about 10x.

http://america.aljazeera.com/articles/2014/3/17/poison-pill-inflatedantivenombillsshedlightonhighdrugcosts.html

$2K vials of antivenin are passed along to the patient at a cost of $20K.

we do have a health care problem in this country, but obamacare was not the solution. greed, litigation, bureaucracy, etc... those are the problems that need fixing. an uninsured person getting bitten by a rattlesnake and facing $150K in medical bills is facing personal financial ruin. unless they are independently wealthy, that’s a staggering price for the bureaucracy to charge somebody. of course, insurance companies never pay those high prices. those invoices are inflated and nonsensical, but many people don’t know that and don’t dispute them. if you’re paying out of pocket, the hospital is giving you a bill they hope your enough of a sucker to just pay in full.

And societal intervention has once again robbed the rest of the planet of a chance to properly reduce the gene pool of genes that should not be contained therein. They are once again propagating stupidity (beyond the cost, which will most likely not be paid for by the idiot himself, thereby no significant lesson will be learned) and reducing mankind’s long-term chances of survival.

Will Rogers said,”There are three kinds of men. The one that learns by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves.”

This guy hosed down the fence real good!

Who thinks it’s a good idea to pick up a rattlesnake and try to take a selfie with it? This beggars the limits of stupidity. Not too much different than Russian Roulette.
