Angry protesters stand outside home of trooper who arrested Sandra Bland

Outraged protesters stood outside of the apartment complex where the state trooper who arrested Sandra Bland lives.  The DPS officer is currently on desk duty but protesters say that’s not enough.  They say the investigation is moving too slow and they want the trooper not only fired but indicted.

On a day when it felt like it couldn’t get any hotter, Quanell X and protesters lit their own fire.

“I'm a speak frank to you, in that cops mind he was saying to himself who does the N-word think she is talking to me like this. And that's when he said get out of the car I'll light you up.  Well since you like lighting up black women, there's a whole bunch of black men coming today. Let's see if he's going to light some of us up,” Quanell X said.

Deputies guarded off the front entrance where Trooper Brian Encinia lives in Katy and neighbors watched, as many kept saying if it weren’t for that trooper Sandra Bland would still be alive.

I asked Imani Windom: what's your message to the trooper specifically as being a women who could put herself in Sandra Bland’s position and mindset?  “You should think before you react just because she might have been rude, that's not against the law ...what she came off as in her strong voice ...she shouldn't have been treated that way,” Windom responded.

Even Gloria Rubac a white woman stood with a sign that read “Black Lives Matter.”

“I also believe in the slogan ‘black lives matter’ because I think we have to say that white lives have always mattered but in this day and age with the epidemic of police shootings I think it's a priority for all of us to say black lives matter,” Rubac said.

Protesters ended with prayer and a hope that their prayers would be answered.  We also asked Quanell X if Sandra Bland’s family was on board with Sunday’s protest and he responded that it was an action he called for.

Yes, I think so. But I have seen no mention of the cop suspecting anything like that. But I haven’t read more than three articles on this.

Is it also a Texas custom to run stop signs in front of cop cars?

Did he run her driver’s license when he was writing her a warning?

Yes, a—clowns have rights, but NONE of hers were violated.

The officer had the right to order her out of the car at any time. (Pennsylvania vs. Mimms) Whether it was her obnoxious response to his request to put out the cigarette or something else is totally irrelevant. It was a lawful order, she defied it, giving him the right to use physical force.

She physically resisted, giving him the right to threaten to use the tazer. If she had not complied at that point he could have legally tazed her.

You can quibble about whether he was deferential enough to the lunatic, but he committed no crime or rights violation.

Did he run her driver’s license when he was writing her a warning?"

I would assume so...SOP and all....and so if he suspected her of being drunk or high...why even write a warning at all?

That's where the defender of LEO logic falls apart...why didnt he just return to the car and place her under arrest if he supected her of being under the influence?

Why take the time to even write a warning for failure to signal?

Why wait until she refused to put out a cig to order her out of the car?

A partial transcript, from ABC News....

http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/transcript-traffic-stop-sandra-bland-arrested-32617883

TROOPER: “You OK?”

BLAND: “I’m waiting on you. This is your job. I’m waiting on you. What do you want me to do?”

TROOPER: “You seem very irritated.”

BLAND: “I am. I really am. Because of what I’ve been stopped and am getting a ticket for. I’ve been getting out of the way. You’ve been speeding up, so I move over and you stop me. So yeah, I am a little irritated. But that didn’t stop you from giving me a ticket.”

TROOPER: “Are you done?”

BLAND: “You asked me what was wrong and I told you. So now I’m done, yeah.”

TROOPER: “OK, OK.”

(Pause)

TROOPER: “Do you mind putting out your cigarette, please?”

BLAND: “I’m in my car. Why do I have to put out my cigarette?”

TROOPER: “Well, you can step out now.”

BLAND: “I don’t have to step on out.”

TROOPER: “Step out of the car.”

(He opens the driver’s side door.)

BLAND: “No, you don’t have the right.”

TROOPER: “Step out of the car!”

BLAND: “You don’t have the right to do that.”

TROOPER: “I do have the right. Now step out or I’ll remove you.”

BLAND: “I am getting removed for failure to signal?”

TROOPER: “Step out or I’ll remove you. I’m giving you a lawful order. Get out of the car now or I’m going to remove you.”

BLAND: “I’m calling my lawyer.”

TROOPER: “I’m going to yank you out of here.”

BLAND: “OK, you’re going to yank me out of the car?”

TROOPER: “Get out!” (reaching into the car)

BLAND: “Don’t touch me!”

TROOPER: “Get out of the car!”

BLAND: “Don’t touch me. I am not under arrest. You don’t have the right to touch me.”

TROOPER: “You are under arrest.”

BLAND: “I’m under arrest for what?”

(Trooper radios for backup.)

TROOPER: “Get out of the car! Get out of the car now!”

BLAND: “Am I being apprehended? Did you try to give me a ticket?”

TROOPER: “Get out of the car!”

BLAND: “Why am I being apprehended? You done opened my car door. So you’re going to drag me out of my own car?”

TROOPER: “Get out of the car! I will light you up! Get out!”

BLAND: (Stepping out, holding phone) “Wow. Wow. You’re doing all this for a failure to signal?”

TROOPER: “Get over there!” (Directing her to the side of the road)

BLAND: “Right. Yeah, let’s take this to court.”

TROOPER: “Get off the phone!”

BLAND: “I’m off the phone. I’m making a record.”

TROOPER: “Put the phone down.”

(Now off-camera)

BLAND: “Are you feeling good about yourself? Are you feeling good about yourself? For a failure to signal, you’re feeling good about yourself.”

TROOPER: “Turn around. Turn around now! Put your hands behind your back and turn around now!”

We don’t know what the officer’s intentions were or his precise reason for ordering her out of the car were, but they are totally irrelevant from a legal standpoint.

During a traffic stop an officer has the authority to order a driver and passengers out of a vehicle...period. He gave her a lawful order, she defied it and things escalated from there. She committed multiple violations of the law, he committed none.

Was that the point of the stop and warning? The stop sign? I’m not up and up on all the details.

And here is the money quote that disproves the suspicion crap and other BS and shows the cop was power tripping:

TROOPER: “Do you mind putting out your cigarette, please?”

BLAND: “I’m in my car. Why do I have to put out my cigarette?”

TROOPER: “Well, you can step out now.”

And there you have it....until she questioned putting her cigarette out...she was going to get a warning....after questioning a REQUEST to put her cigarette out...she was going to get a lesson.

Thanks for posting that...it totally makes my point.

It doesn’t matter what your IQ is.

As I pointed out to you, you didn’t even get the first thing you said right.

You can read her arrest report and clearly see what she was arrested for, yet here I have you telling me she was arrested for not putting a cigarette out... which is WRONG.

So I don’t see any reason why I or anyone else should discuss this matter with you, because you don’t even understand what happened.

Then you post back to me pictures of some faggot and babble on about big dogs and little dogs, so yeah, I don’t even need to know what your IQ is.

And I am just responding to your posts after I told you that I have no desire to discuss this with you, yet you KEEP POSTING TO ME, so if you don’t like my attitude, STEP OFF.

Having the authority is not a license to abuse the authority. Police officer should exercise it only when it’s reasonably necessary. This woman obviously had a bad attitude but the police could have been the grownup, instead choose to escalate it.

There are some police officers who gets on a power trip and treat civilians like dirt. Happened to a friend of mine who by the way is white so it’s not racial. He spend a day in jail and had to be bailed out because when the police asked him for his ID he told them he left it in his car. They charged him with refusing to cooperate and arrested him. He’s now suing them.

She ran a stop sign right in front of him, he made a u-turn and got behind her, then she changed lanes in front of him without signaling.

I suppose he decided to investigate at that point. He never mentioned the stop sign running to her, but did cite the failure to signal lane changes.

BTW...please tell me which this is based on your knowledge of the english language.

Is the following an “order”?...or a “request”?

“Do you mind putting out your cigarette, please?”

Order or request...pick one.

If you say “both” you are a bootlicker....just sayin.
