Still about perception, and we all know what the media would push if Trump actually did run as a Dem. It’d be the biggest oxymoron.

... and if I don't get the nomination then I'm finished with the GOP and will be quite happy to support the crowning of Queen Hillary. It's Third Party Perot-Style all the for me. Take that GOP. Nominate me or die.

I’m 56 and I know better than to trust him. Funny what those years as a college kid with Jimmy Carter AND with Ronald Reagan can do for perspective.

There isn't a perfect candidate, there isn't a perfect POTUS

THANK YOU!

Far too often I've seen candidates villified when they make a gaffe, or don't clearly state something.

Quite often though, it is merely something the "media" has taken out of context and modified to fit their agenda.

Only about 10% of voters vote in primaries.

Excellent point. Which is why the RINO or "GOPe" candidate usually always ends up winning the nomination. They are the ones with the machine behind them and when only 10% of us show up, it only takes a small army of volunteers to get the establishment candidate to the nomination.

For the most part, our president is still chosen in smokey back rooms and the primaries/caucuses are just for show.

If you remember back in 1980, George Bush was the favored establishment candidate. Reagan was seen as a rogue (much like Trump is today) that would "do damage" to the GOP image.

In fact, I believe Bush beat Reagan in the Iowa caucus and was looking to win New Hampshire as well. But that's about the time that Reagan had his "I paid for this microphone" moment and he went on to clobber Bush in NH.

The American people respond to strong candidates who aren't mealy-mouthed and show some passion.

We really haven't had that since Reagan. While Trump is a poor substitute, he's pushing many of the right buttons.

This is exactly why nobody should talk about what to do with Mexicans here. Unless you are for deportation you are for Amnesty so stick with building the wall and worry about the ones here later. That is essentially what he said but tried to answer the impossible question.

In my nearly 13 years at FR I’ve seen too many “Next great conservative heroes” to ever toss my panties on the stage of every political Justin Beiber to appear.

Colin Powell, Condi Rice, David Petraeus, Chris Cristie, Fred Thompson and on and on and on.

I look for consistent conservatism, not someone loudly saying what I want to hear.

That’s exactly what I heard him say, but Lurker keeps harping on the same thing over and over. He/she is a harpie!

Herein lies the problem of those who want Trump to bring the issues to the forefront. Who, other than possibly, Ted Cruz, would implement those policies if elected? .....crickets. I believe Trump would do exactly what he says he will do about the border. His reputation is on the line, and unlike Obama, he loves America.

You are so right...

Just like Trump's speech in Laredo yesterday, he told the ‘planted’ reporter that the MSM took a bit of this and a bit of that and made it sound like he actually said it...

They do that when there are things they don't like to hear or when someone says something from the mouth of a person they don't like....

That’s the conundrum, frankly. He’s the harbinger of the so far non-vocal Americans deeply concerned about illegals, but there isn’t any chance in my opinion of him getting elected. Similarly, the one who’s really best able to implement the needed controls, Cruz, isn’t in a spot right now to do anything. He could be. What it will take is an open first debate that will allow him to plead his case. One that isn’t a GOPe Kabuki put on.

From what I've read Cruz is for some sort of work permit program, not a path to citizenship.

We just recently build a house (in Texas) and every single sub-contractor was Mexican with all Mexican crews: foundation, framers, roofers,, plumbers, electricians, sheet rockers, and painters. The general contractor was the only anglo to be seen.

I don't know if they were legals or illegals but I was on site every single day all day and was very impressed with their skill and work ethic. Working under the hot Texas sun is no easy task.

I think Cruz has the right idea.

They are the “Melting Pot” party, frankly. The only difference between them is the level of largess they are willing to promise. That doesn’t matter in execution because the GOPe ALWAYS delivers largess, just with some lying BS pseudo-conservative message that doesn’t mean squat.

The article says of Don Trump runs third party and Jeb Bush is the GOP nominee - that Hillary would win the election with 46% Jeb would get 30% and Trump would get 20% like Ross Perot.

Got news for the GOPe-If Jeb Bush is the GOP candidate -this will be how the election turns out (Jeb losing) whether Trump runs third party or not.

That’s what the article says....what THEY want you to READ and decide “oh my, we can’t have this, better do what they say or this will happen” ok, who’s the blame if this happens????

The GOP hasn’t been fair to their loyal voters so I don’t know why they’d be fair to Trump.

"No matter—Trump’s been talking to the GOPe/RNC and came out this morning with the proper pro-amnesty position."

You give no source/link for your claim. The only recent media claim of this nature is the following Weekly Standard GOP-e disinformation report - "Trump Suggests He May Be Open to Amnesty" - which is pure bullshit.

Trump actually said, “The first thing we have to do is strengthen our borders and after that we’ll have plenty of time to talk about it.”

Hell, I've been 'talking about it' for decades without ever making the slightest 'suggestion' that I'm "open to it."

Only a liar or an idiot could call that "open to Amnesty" or a "pro-amnesty position."

If you have another source post it or hold your peace till you do!

“For those out there who will say “you’re electing Hillary, then”....no, I won’t - the GOPe did that even before I got a chance to vote.”

Exactly! Put the blame where it belongs and quit bullying people into voting for a RINO. Who won’t be much better than Hillary- the US will still continue its descent into fascism with either.

You said Trump came out for amnesty after talking to GOP heads - that’s not true. Now you say Cruz did - which I’ve never read either.

Are you for Walker or something? He did cone out for amnesty, before and after he flipped 3 times.
