President Obama is in the final stages of drafting a plan to close Guantanamo Bay, confirmed White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest to reporters this afternoon.

Obama plans to present the plan to Congress in the coming days, Earnest added, calling it a priority for Obama as he prepares to leave office.

Earnest lectured that Republican members of Congress who block efforts to close the prison were on the wrong side of the debate, arguing that “closing the prison is actually in the national security interests of the United States.”

It’s the whole reason Obama normalized relations with Cuba.

He is going to turn it back over to them. Order the troops to evacuate. Turn the property and the prisoners over to Cuba, who likely will then release them all.

Everyday we’re going to see the Marxist try to ruin the country and take it further into the abyss that he has already taken it.

Barkley would close the prison and give the Gitmo base back to Cuba.
Since we've been kicked off the Puerto Rico Naval Base, this would leave us with no reliably friendly port in this part of the world.

Yep, and this is why he did that trade for Bergdahl too. It let him get rid of 4 hardcores that he would have otherwise had to find a home for.

Can you imagine Guantanomo Bay as a leased cruise-ship stop and resort, much like Grand Turk is? That would be every cruisers ultimate dream.

Except for the economies of friendly island nations it would destroy, that is.

Guantanamo will stay open as long as Boehner doesn’t promise a “fight”.

Shoot, if I’m Obama, I’d have kept it open.

There’s some Tea Party leaders, prominent Christians, or NRA executives still runnin’ around in America, right?

Obama will just contract that out for the Castro brothers to operate, at American taxpayer expense, of course. So, we’ll be paying for our own incarceration and torture.

Should have invaded and taken over Cuba when we had the chance back in 1898 when we kicked Spain's ass.

Can't believe a 3rd-world island nation has been a thorn in our side for over 60 years.

This base is huge, 20 sq. miles. A virtual city. Deepwater docks. Billions invested. Why not give it to Fidel and his murderous thugs so the Russians can park their nuclear missle frigates there? Oops! Bye Bye Miami!

The liberal view is that, there is great outrage in Muslim world that we have a prison camp at Gitmo. The mere existence of Gitmo somehow radicalizes Muslims and pushes them towards terror.

And this ties in with Obama sometimes saying we haven’t lived up to our highest ideals and all that. As if people such as Bin Laden have an Alinsky mindset and wouldn’t attack if only we always lived up those highest ideals.

It’s been a busy week for President Obama. Completed the checklist of giving everything they wanted to Iran and Cuba. Wonder how the next seventeen months are going to go?

Nah. The Castros will get a huge propaganda show out of the deal before giving the prisoners a “compassionate furlough” to countries who are willing to take them.
