Look at photos of baseball teams from the 1800’s - it was a beardfest.

Joe Pepitone made the All-Star team and the network that carried the game that year featured Joe in the locker room with his blow-dryer, demonstrating how he got his hair to look just right. He played first base.

I wish I could grow locks like that on my head.

...The young workmen who built a patio cover at my home had those sort of straight long beards. Must be stylish?

Did they all arrive at once in a van driven by someone who looked slightly different? Were they exceedingly polite? Did many of them have beqrds with no mustaches?
Did their clothing look hand made, have blue denim jeans, and have no buttons? Did they all have similar looking straw hats?

If yes, they were Amish.

I remember the story that Graig Nettles told about concerning the first Opening Day Steinbrenner owned the Yankees (about 1973). During the national anthem, he wrote down the numbers of the players whom he thought they needed to go get a haircut. Graig says manager Ralph Houk began reading out those numbers and the locker room shook with everybody laughing as here was George owning the team and not knowing the names of his players yet.

I can take watching those with beards.

I do get irritated at the football players who have their girly locks hanging out from under their helments.

From about 1860 to 1885 it was hard to find a grown man without one from Maine to the Rio Grande..

Why not Duck Dynasty?

Because they are who they are and nobody including me even questions their appearances.......

MLB, now that's another venue.......

Ball players historically have been very superstitious. They follow fads and trends like the overpaid children they are. Next year it will be lipstick. The year after, bras instead of cups.

Does it bother you that our spec ops guys wear full beards, too?

That all depends, what MLB team are they playing on? If they're batting over .300 then I guess I'll give them a pass.......

Fair enough?

What did you do? Time warp here from the 1960’s? Next you’ll be asking”is that a boy or a girl “ of someone with long hair.If they like it that way, what business is it of yours?
