The Dent County Commission voted unanimously Monday to observe one year of "mourning over the Supreme Courts June 26 decision that gay couples have the constitutional right to marriage.
The observance will come in the form of lowering the flags at the Dent County Courthouse and Judicial Building to below half-staff on the 26th day of the month from July 2015 to June 2016.
The vote came after Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles filed a letter into the public record protesting, the U.S. high courts stamp of approval of what God speaks of as an abomination.
The letter details Skiles opposition to gay marriage and proposes lowering of the flags so all who see these flags at this lowered position be reminded of this despicable Supreme Court travesty, he wrote.
Joining Skiles in the unanimous vote were commissioners Gary Larson and Dennis Purcell.
Finally, I hear a protestation from a government.
Very nice!... Good to see someone in state government with balls.
I think they should just fly it upside down though.
No information about the state.
Wow. Good for them. Their courage is a beautiful thing. I hope they stand strong.
Missouri is in the keywords.
This is Dent County Commission in Missouri.
Sorry for the confusion.
Outstanding!!!
I’d like to see this spread.
Missouri
The most interesting use of flags to protest the homosexual vote is simple, self-explanatory and brilliant. Most religious denominations have flags, and by flying a religious flag over the US flag, it says that your faith comes before your allegiance to government.
Importantly, anyone can get a flag of their faith and do this. Two pastors in North Carolina have done so, and made a video about it - which has gone “viral”, with several hundred thousand views so far.

“God before government”
Now if they got the idea that God before everything else too... they’d be onto something.
In good times, nobody really thinks that hard about their allegiances.
It's the feeder pig and calf capitol of Missouri.
That is a good thing.
13 posts and nobody’s said:
“oh...so the flag is flying limp?”
Amen.
I don’t think churches should fly any flag but the Christian Flag. The Stars & Stripes certainly doesn’t represent our Christian values anymore.
Now, if only the churches would follow.
I’m glad (uh...no pun...) to see the great comic artist joins in this....
It appears that they’ve changed their minds:
