Well, the Ethiopians, whom I suspect are legal, have displaced the Mexican illegals next door. I don’t think they were amongst those setting off fireworks. I wasn’t trying to explicitly indict the illegals, since almost everyone around here regardless of race disregard the law on fireworks. Actually, the worst offender for a good long time was a Taiwanese neighbor who sent off massive fireworks at July 4th and New Years’ and we’d clean up the mess of the spent items around the yard. He doesn’t do that anymore.

I was more concerned for my cats when they were outside then. Orangie’s young mother, barely 7-8 weeks after he was born, vanished on the evening of July 4th (2002) when everything was being set off. Never did find her and I still miss her (so does Orangie). :-(

Latest I read is that the decedent heldd a lighter too close to the wick (?) of the firework and it ignited unintentionally. Still foolish even if it went that way. RIP.
