Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul injured his hand in a Fourth of July fireworks accident, according to multiple reports.

A radio host for WINZ in Miami tweeted that Pierre-Paul “severely injured” his hand, and multiple reports have confirmed Pierre-Paul suffered an injury.

The extent of Pierre-Paul's injuries are unknown, but it appears he is not in danger of losing his hand and his injuries were not believed to be career-threatening, according to a source. The Giants did not confirmed or denied the story when contacted by the Daily News.

Several Twitter users shared photos of a U-Haul truck full of fireworks claiming it belonged to Pierre-Paul. One woman, who said she was a neighbor of Pierre-Paul’s and was lighting the fireworks with him, has deactivated her Twitter account.

M-80 my explosive of choice. Ah the memories of dropping them off the dock into the water and watching them explode or the old M-80 under the can trick. :-)

Modern M-80s are mostly sawdust. A friend at work about 15 years ago brought in "New Old Stock" M-80s from his dad's house... 1970s leftovers.

Holy Moses, those things were like a half the power of a modern "quarter stick of dynamite".

So true. It clearly says on all types of fireworks” “Lay on ground. Light fuse. Get away. Do not hold in hand. Use only under adult supervision’’. He probably didn’t have an adult around. Shows to go you what happens when you don’t read the instructions. And that’s jmacusa’s Fireworks Safety Lesson for today. Tomorrows safety lesson: “Never Touch Anything From Outer Space’’.

If true, this NFL player could end up getting released by the team. NFL contracts have clauses in them that prohibit dangerous activity in the off season. I remember a New England Patriots player getting released by the team because he injured himself playing volleyball.

My brother-in-law once threw a M-80 off the loading dock at work (our family business), it landed near a empty pop can and blew it back onto the loading dock. I saw my first police officer when a neighbors kid was throwing cherry bombs in bassett creek. We saw minnows rise to the surface afterward.

I once threw a lady finger (small fire cracker compared to a blackcat) and it exploded just as it was released from my hand. My forefinger I swear doubled in size for awhile afterward. Those gunpowder fuses are erratic.

Now as I get older I like looking at the fireworks but cannot stand the noise.
