The man shot and killed by a former CNN journalist at an Albuquerque motel was reportedly identified by police Thursday night.
Albuquerque Police Department spokesman Tanner Tixier said Tomorio Walton, 27, was involved in the shooting, the Albuquerque Journal reports. Walton was on parole in Memphis, Tennessee before fleeing police. Officials are unsure how long Walton was in the city for.
Former CNN anchor Lynne Russell said her husband Chuck de Caro, and Walton exchanged gunfire after the man entered their room at a Motel 6 on Albuquerque’s western edge and demanded jewelry.

DeCaro is ex-special forces, and Lynne Russell was an Atlanta Sheriffs Deputy when she was on HLN. She was very public about having her Conceal Carry Permit when on the air.
That "Journalist" is a RACIST! He should have waited till he was robbed by a white guy before killing him!

I watched Lynne for years on HLN and never got a liberal feel from her comments. She seldom had time for comments on HLN.
Liberals aren’t known for marrying Special Forces Soldiers.

Well it was quick thinking to get it from the purse but her husband obviously has the steadier hand even even stark naked and soaking wet. I guess she just stood there watched her hero getting shot up.
She might be a founding member. It was way back in the 90’s when she told the country she had her CCW.

Lynne was one of my favourites on CNN back in the day. Always a treat to have her on the TV at the gym while I worked out. Hard to believe that CNN was reasonably watchable back in the mid 90s (even though I know people here would remind me that CNN stood for Clinton News Network).
The way the initial article read, they both had their guns but her purse wasn’t visible. She was on the opposite side of the bed from DeCaro, who came out of the shower butt naked to find this guy threatening Lynne. He said he wanted valuables and picked up DeCaro’s briefcase. When DeCaro tried to tell him there was nothing valuable in it the guy started shooting. DeCaro had made his way to his side of the bed where he got a “pocket” 9mm, and started firing back. Lynne said all she could do was duck to keep from getting hit by the perp.
If bad guy had seen her purse, he would have tried for that, not the briefcase.
Also very confined space. If you’ve ever been in a Motel 6 you know the bed cuts the room in half.

He took three rounds and still put the bad guy’s lights out. Clearly, this wasn’t Husband’s first rodeo.
