Yeah, it wasn't a value judgment, just a general observation. With cats, I crouch down and hold out a fist and make "pss pss pss" noise, and they usually come over and just rub their heads on my hand. I am sure I look weird as well.

I contest the results of this study. My cats love to be petted everywhere and anywhere. Head, back, sides, base of tail, and sometimes their tummy. My little cat has the cutest particolor paw pads, and is very good natured about me playing “pushbutton paws”with them. It is also true that they initiate getting petted whenever they can catch me immobile, such as trying to get work done on the computer, reading, trying to sleep, trying to prepare food in the kitchen, just about all the time. Love sponges!

Siamese cats love to be roughly manhandled.

My daughter had a nasty seal point Siamese. Used to jump up on the counter and stick her ass in my face. The rougher I was w/ her the better she liked it.

We now have a stray, ex-pet, male. He acts like a dog. Follows me around the yard, etc. begging for a petting. Can't pet him enough to satisfy him.
Cool cat, lives outside, we feed him, he doesn't bother any of the birds, raccoons, fox that roam through.
