GOP presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 96% stood up for fellow GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump on Fox and Friends Tuesday morning.
When it comes to Donald Trump, I like Donald Trump. I think hes terrific, I think hes brash, I think he speaks the truth. and I think NBC is engaging in political correctness that is silly and that is wrong. I dont think you should apologize for speaking out about the problem that is illegal immigration, Cruz said.
Cruz joined Fox News to discuss his new book, but was asked about Trumps comments about illegal immigration, made at his formal announcement speech.

You start with those who have broken other laws and deport them first. Cruz has made it clear, that if a person is here illegally, they forfeit their right to ever become a citizen.
Anyone here illegally that is on public assistance should be prioritized for deportation, as well. As those demographics are worked through, many will self deport.
Another way to encourage self deportation is to enforce stiff fines for anyone hiring illegals. As the work and welfare dries up, so will the incentives to stay.
Well you have a point there I just don’t think Cruz would pick him or that he would accept.
I saw that interview, pretty good. I’ve always been fairly impressed with Cruz, the only one in the Republican field so far that I think gets even in the same room with the truth. Rubio was looking fairly decent till he said amnesty, Bush...well just no...he reminds me too much of a vulture. Next time you see him on TV look close, that leaning forward stance...tell me he doesn’t look like a vulture. Everybody else supports amnesty and most just have too much baggage.
Trump...probably the only one I like more than Cruz. Cruz has one thing going against him, he’s an established politician. I don’t trust politicians no matter which party. Trump is not a career politician, though he knows how to deal with them, he deals with politicians on a regular basis. You don’t build hotels all over the world without learning how to deal with politicians.
And he says it like it is. Nobody else does that. Even Cruz, who does try to keep to the truth, is not as up front in your face brutally honest as Trump is. And they like each other. I’ve heard Trump in interviews say he likes Cruz too.
Put them together on the same ticket, I know who I’m voting for...Trump has a pair of solid brass ones and Cruz is the smartest critter to get a foot in the White House in 50 years. And he’s hell on wheels in a debate, the last thing democrats want is to face Cruz in a debate. I’m waiting to see how Trump does too, if he makes it into the first round of debates, that should be really interesting.
Off topic, but I’ve seen a lot of guesses and conjecture on who is going to actually have a good chance at the nomination. Just look at who the media is attacking the most. Bush? Walker? Rubio? Nope...Cruz and Trump. That’s who to watch. The media is going full tilt boogie to bring Trump down, Cruz with a picture of a gun to his forehead...yeah I know who they fear...
OK back sort of on topic, I wonder what Cruz thinks of Trump’s illegal immigration plan? Don’t think I’ve heard anything. Same thing I’ve been saying for at least 10 years, but without the wall. Here’s my version:
1. Stop all foreign aid to Mexico (I recently revised that to everywhere south of Texas)
2. Stop all tourist travel into Mexico, temporarily, in the interest of public safety, it’s unsafe for Americans there. Bye bye tourist money.
3. Beef up border security. Put the military shoulder to shoulder from Laredo to San Diego if you have to.
4. Tell Mexico to stop illegal immigration and shut down the drug cartels, then we’ll talk money.
I give it 6 months and you won’t be able to get a mouse across the border without papers. Soon as the money dries up, Mexico WILL pay attention. No wall necessary. Might not even take 6 months...
Trump said almost he exact same thing, in a little less detail, and with the idea of building a wall. I’ve been telling people that’s the way to do it for over 10 years and nobody wants to listen, but it will work. No wall needed.
So what does Cruz think of Trump’s idea concerning that wall plan?
One donated hundreds of thousands to Democrats, the other did not.
I think they are forging an unspoken agreement to work in tandem to get rid of Jeb and Mitt.
Cruz/Trump take no prisoners and tell it like it is. I can respect those qualities rather then lying to my face and stabbing me in the back.
