New York has formalized its ban on high-volume hydraulic fracturing for natural gas after a seven-year environmental and health review.

Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Joe Martens announced the decision Monday, saying a ban was the "only reasonable alternative" after "years of exhaustive research and examination of the science and facts."

They can’t. It’s allowed in other states.

Yeah, as if any dim-bulb-crat could conduct “exhaustive research” on anything other than a hamburger.

Oh well, NY is doomed anyway...along with Michigan, Illinois, and California. They can rot in the sewers whilst we build barriers so as to keep the liberal vermin within appropriate confines.

No one wants to frack in NY anyway, and won’t for quite a few years at least - has anyone paid attention to natural gas prices recently and rig counts?

So when the Democrat machine in NY can make some money off it, they will reconsider.

Yep, I'm sure the SCOTUS can rewrite the laws of NY.

Great, now Pennsylvania can use horizontal drilling techniques to grab all that natural gas hidden below the surface in New York. Thanks a lot, Andrew Cuomo, you homo sucker!

The agency concluded that existing safety precautions are inadequate to protect against harm to water, air, ecosystems, wildlife, community character and public health.

What the hell is "community character" and when did it become a focal point of environmental policy? Also, "exhaustive research" is a buzzword for: "I'm tired of looking looking at it, so let's go with the results the grant provider wants us to find."

The logic used for queer marriage was that it was valid in some states, so it had to be in all. That means concealed carry or fracking has to be allowed in all, logically.

Drilling rigs are still active in multiple counties adjacent to the NY state border.

Exhaustive research means ask the Democrats what they want...

And as a result, New York state could now face a financial crisis as upper New York state falls into economic ruin. Meanwhile, Ohio and Pennsylvania are booming because fracking has revived a lot of rural areas economically.

NY is crazy to not allow fracking. I was living in Pittsburgh just before the boom. Believe me, fracking saved Western Pa from an economic disaster.

A ballot proposal in NY state to prohibit prohibitions on fracking, with an additional state tax on all oil and gas produced by in-state fracking to defray the imaginary environmental costs, would pass 3 to 1.
