PORTLAND, Ore. – Two Oregon hikers who were assaulted by a beaver after they climbed onto its dam have been hospitalized for injuries incurred during the rare attack, law enforcement officials said on Friday. Because aggression by beavers is pretty uncommon and because the consequences are so serious, I'm sure the first thing doctors did at the hospital was to begin treatment for rabies. Any warm-blooded mammal, including a beaver, can be a carrier of rabies. Because rabies is almost inevitably fatal if untreated, precautionary treatment would be the protocol.
I’m not surprised, the furry devil should be a shoo in for the State Fair.
So now you can get rabies from beaver? I thought all you could get was the usual STD’S?
