those of us who participate in elections do so out of duty.

1. “Piety in place of duty isn’t piety at all”. So, yes, there is a religious aspect to duty.

2. Civics is considered “practical affairs”, not a religious matter. So, no, Christians should not be dogmatic about practical affairs.

Good luck with your new religion, whatever you call it.

I only have one religion, and that is Christianity. Assuming you are Christian as well, your religious duty as well as mine is to render onto caesar. Caesar doesn’t require your vote, and as a matter of fact in most states you have to apply in advance in order to do so.

You speak of a “duty “ to participate in elections Where is this duty outlined? Is there some part of scripture or law that I’ve missed? If so, please let me know. If neither caesar nor God require it, then how is it a duty? Or is this “duty” created whole cloth out of the ether by those who have made electoral politics their new age religion?
