I say the Bushes are corrupted by liberalism before they get there. But listing Daddy Bush's and Bush the 2nd's liberal and globalist words, actions and associations would take more than one post or even an entire thread.

So, I guess Reagan was corrupted by liberalism also since he had a chose two justices that went wrong.

Your theory holds no water.

Reagan appointments were not perfect, but neither Kennedy nor O'Connor were anywhere as disastrous as Souter or Roberts.

What you say about the GOP in Congress rub stamping the Democrats’ leftwing purist appointments (Sotomayer, Kagan, Ginsburg & Breyer) is true - but only half of the problem. It does not explain why the GOP presidents and their staffs did not weed out the Souters and Roberts before nominating them.

Repeat: Reagan appointments were not perfect, but neither Kennedy nor O’Connor were anywhere as disastrous as Souter or Roberts.

From another FR thread (Link):
It turns out that Ann Coulter sniffed another Souter-esque betrayal in the offing ten years ago:
After pretending to consider various women and minorities for the Supreme Court these past few weeks, President Bush decided to disappoint all the groups he had just ginned up and nominate a white male.

So all we know about him for sure is that he can’t dance and he probably doesn’t know who Jay-Z is. Other than that, he is a blank slate. Tabula rasa. Big zippo. Nada. Oh, yeah … We also know he’s argued cases before the Supreme Court. Big deal; so has Larry Flynt’s attorney.

But unfortunately, other than that that, we don’t know much about John Roberts. Stealth nominees have never turned out to be a pleasant surprise for conservatives. Never. Not ever.

At least Eisenhower admitted his mistakes. His Republican successors have not.

Daddy Bush: Souter & Thomas. Bush the 2nd: Roberts & Alito Miers.
Lest we forget.

Unfortunately, same with half of the Reagan appointees.

It goes back before Reagan. Look at Roe v. Wade. Five of the seven justices writing for the majority were put there by Republicans.
