Obama: Low-income Kids Do Worse in School at Month’s End Partly Because They’re ‘Getting Hungry,’…

Kids in low-income communities statistically do poorer in terms of school performance near the end of each month, in part, because “they start getting hungry” as their food stamps “start running out,” said President Barack Obama at a Democratic National Committee fundraiser in Santa Monica, Calif., on Thursday.

“Too many of our kids still go hungry in this country,” said Obama.

“I was looking at some statistics, because we're looking at policies around hunger and the SNAP program, and the performance of children in lower-income communities in school dips at the end of the month in a statistically significant way,” he said, “in part because they start getting hungry as their food stamps for their family start running out which then affects how they perform in school.”

The fundraiser where Obama spoke was held at the home of actor, playwright, and songwriter Tyler Perry. …

When I was in school, you could get your lunches free but had to work in the cafeteria for them. We didn’t have dishwashers in the school in those days, so, kids had to scrape plates, and wash dishes by hand.

I repeated that statistic to a black woman who was lamenting that white women could afford to be stay at home moms, but in black communities things were different. She went ballistic; truly off the deep end, saying that i was stereotyping, that i wasn’t taking middle class black families into account, i was trying to portray black women as whores, etc. She didn’t understand that when black women weren’t married and had kids they had no choice but to work or collect gov’t assistance. Oh boy, then i was stereotyping again about black women on welfare. And she tried telling me there were more whites receiving gov’t money than blacks. Chick was totally off her rocker.

Even IF it were true that poor kids do worse in school because they are hungry, to which I say BS, my son barely eats (he has special needs) and he just got straight As this last semester! (Have to brag - only 5th grade but that was huge for him; he had a lot of obstacles). My son is surely undernourished and is underweight. He doesn’t eat breakfast and might eat lunch.

Anyway. Back to my point. Even if they were doing poorly because they are hungry, SO WHAT? It is NOT the school’s nor the public’s responsibility to feed those kids. THE PARENTS MUST FEEL IN SOME WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR CHILD’s SURVIVAL. It is doing the people of this country no service to take away the need of the parent to provide for any child they have.

I am all for charity feeding and clothing the poor. But not for some government responsibility which removes all guilt from parents to even attempt to raise their own kids. Parents must do everything they can do keep their children fed. Thereafter, we can talk.

A million excuses and denial of what the government itself is telling us and them. That’s an example of Marxist conditioning indeed.
(Karl Marx) visualized a regimented breed of Pavlovian men whose minds could be triggered into immediate action by signals from their masters. He wanted a race of men who would no longer depend upon free will, ethics, morals or conscience for guidance.

Perhaps, without quite realizing it, Marx was setting out to create a race of human beings conditioned to think like criminals. Producing such a race had been the dream of power-hungry men for more than 4,000 years. Nimrod had projected the design, Plato polished it, Saint-Simon sublimated it—now Marx materialized it. …

The Naked Communist, Introduction
And this is what the racist Democrats have done to these people. All of the conditioning is there, and when things snap, they will never be able to control it—it’ll be like when Mark Antony said in the play Julius Caesar, “Now let it work: Mischief, thou art afoot; take thou course thou wilt.”

Of course white people outnumber blacks on welfare—we outnumber them in (almost) every single way, period...

BUT, the percentage of white people on welfare is SUBSTANTIALLY lower than the percentage of Negroes on welfare...as a function of the total population, by race...what was it? less than 1-in-6 for whites, versus ~3-in-5 for blacks?

Oh, and get rid of child labor laws. Allow children to work.

As long as they're not in heavy industry...or anything substantially dangerous to adults, let alone children....

Their scores dip at the end of the month because that is when baby momma and baby daddy get their welfare checks cashed and buy their pot.

The number one health problem among our poor (including kids) is obesity. And the reason that they are obese is that they are always hungry. They eat all the time. We’ve all seen them at the grocery store with overflowing carts and EBT cards or over burdening those poor little electric shopping carts.

Childhood Obesity Facts

Approximately 17% (or 12.7 million) of children and adolescents aged 2—19 years had obesity.

The prevalence of obesity among children aged 2 to 5 years decreased significantly from 13.9% in 2003-2004 to 8.4% in 2011-2012.

There are significant racial and age disparities in obesity prevalence among children and adolescents. In 2011-2012, obesity prevalence was higher among Hispanics (22.4%) and non-Hispanic black youth (20.2%) than non-Hispanic white youth (14.1%). The prevalence of obesity was lower in non-Hispanic Asian youth (8.6%) than in youth who were non-Hispanic white, non-Hispanic black or Hispanic.

In 2011-2012, 8.4% of 2- to 5-year-olds had obesity compared with 17.7% of 6- to 11-year-olds and 20.5% of 12- to 19-year-olds.

But the bad news is that an unprecedented number of children are carrying excess body weight. That excess weight significantly increases our kids’ risk factors for a range of health problems, including diabetes, heart disease, asthma, and emotional and mental health problems.

As usual, they are trying to have it both ways. So which is it? Are our kids malnourished or obese?

Not many would allow children to work in heavy industry but laws against it is overstepping the bounds of government. Frankly, an agreement between private parties is none of the governments business. They don’t seem to give a dam about little brown kids working the fields on farms, but citizens? No berry or bean field buses, paper routes of Mickey D jobs for them. It is too tough for them to even get up for school, let alone be responsible too....poor widdle bay bees.

With food stamps and 3-4 free meals at school how can they be hungry? FAT yes as the food is not nutritious, but fat making carb calories. Or the food is unfit to eat Mooch’s SLOP.

Sounds to me like they are getting hungry at the White House. Maybe they are actually trying Michelles school lunch programs. It would serve them right see how they could live off of that.

I don’t remember what the exact numbers are, but you are correct. I looked up the numbers and presented them to her. Of course she was none too pleased and then the tirade changed course to how more blacks are sexually assaulted.

I found myself feeling sorry for her. She is obviously harboring a lot of anger and I have added her to my prayers that she allows the Holy Spirit to release her from whatever is creating the anger she has.
