Big list of drug-induced killers; Charleston church shooter may be just the latest
WND ^ | June 18, 2015 | Leo Hohmann

As WND has reported, Charleston church shooter Dylann Roof was a known drug user who was caught with the powerful mind-altering narcotic Suboxone when apprehended by police during an incident on Feb. 28.

Suboxone is used to treat addiction to opioid drugs such as heroin. It’s adverse effects include anxiety, irritability, depersonalization, confusion, suicidal thoughts and irrational, sometimes violent behavior.

Other drugs linked to mass killers have more often been geared toward treating mental illness. According to a data set of U.S. mass shootings from 1982-2012 prepared by Mother Jones magazine, of 62 mass shootings carried out by 64 shooters, the majority of the shooters (41) were noted to have signs of possible mental illness — the precise kinds of mental illnesses that psychotropic medications are prescribed for.

It is a well-documented fact that in the 1980s, a shift occurred in the direction of treating the mentally ill. Rather than institutionalize them, the preferred method was to “mainstream” them, encouraging them to function in society while being treated with a mind-numbing array of new anti-depressants being developed by the pharmaceutical industry.

WND has compiled a list of killings committed by persons who had used mind-altering drugs or recently come off of them at the time of their crimes:

Sounds like any standard warning applied to just about any drug these days.

Better call Saul.

Wikipedia doesn’t list most of those things as side effects. Heroin addicts are pathetic and miserable creatures but it’s not associated with spree killing, unlike the SSRI class of drugs.

Let’s see, who does big pharma spend millions of dollars advertising on? Who does big pharma give most of their political donations to?

If you think you’ll hear anything about these drugs on the lamestream media (insert cricket sound here).

Too bad the author stopped taking the meds that prevented him from misusing apostrophes.

Back in the day someone (don’t remember the circumstances) suggested I have my son analyzed by a social psychologist. We did and she recommended that our son be put on certain psychotropic drugs to lesson his problems (never got a clear answer as to his “problem”) ... we refused.

We let him grow up as a normal child and lo and behold he is, today, a normal 40 year old.

I have friends and relatives that have been visiting psychologist and psychiatrists for years and their problems are just as real today as they were 20 or so years ago.

My personal opinion: Psychology is all hokum. An easy way to fleece the unsuspecting and hopeful public of its money.

This is severe disinformation from the CCHR, the so-called Citizen’s Commission on Human Rights, which is really a Scientology front group.

From Wiki: The Citizens Commission on Human Rights International (CCHR) has been described by critics as a Scientology front group that campaigns against psychiatry and psychiatrists. It was established in 1969 by the Church of Scientology. The organization holds that mental illness is not a medical disease and that the use of psychiatric medication is a destructive and fraudulent practice. The organization links psychiatry or psychiatrists to school shootings, mass murders, eugenics, and terrorism. In the immediate aftermath of the September 11 attacks, CCHR promulgated a conspiracy theory assigning responsibility for the attacks to Ayman al-Zawahiri, alleging that as Osama bin Laden’s personal psychiatrist, he was the principal mastermind behind the attacks and had brainwashed bin Laden using pain, drugs and hypnosis.

Suboxone is NOT a drug given for psychiatric problems. It is NOT an anti-depressant. It is NOT an SSRI

It is given to help overcome heroin and other heavy drug addictions. It is not a psychiatric behavior or thought process drug. Roof was already a heavy duty heroin junkie long before he may have been given Suboxone.

Junkies need no help or additional drugs to do crazy things.

Trying to blame this on Suboxone in an admitted heroin addict is like being worried that someone might shoot you with a BB gun when they have already shot you with a .45.

It’s side effects do not involve bizarre or violent behavior, in fact, the opposite, such as the cited “relaxed and calm feeling”:

More common

Cough or hoarseness
feeling faint, dizzy, or lightheaded
feeling of warmth or heat
fever or chills
flushing or redness of the skin, especially on the face and neck
headache
lower back or side pain
painful or difficult urination
sweating

Incidence not known

Bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
rapid weight gain
tingling of the hands or feet
unusual weight gain or loss

If any of the following symptoms of overdose occur while taking buprenorphine / naloxone, get emergency help immediately:

Symptoms of overdose

Blurred vision
confusion
difficult or troubled breathing
dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
drowsiness
irregular, fast, slow, or shallow breathing
pale or blue lips, fingernails, or skin
pinpoint pupils
relaxed and calm feeling
sleepiness
unusual tiredness or weakness

Some buprenorphine / naloxone side effects may not need any medical attention. As your body gets used to the medicine these side effects may disappear. Your health care professional may be able to help you prevent or reduce these side effects, but do check with them if any of the following side effects continue, or if you are concerned about them:

More common

Abdominal or stomach pain
difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
lack or loss of strength
nausea
pain
trouble sleeping
vomiting

Less common

Back pain
diarrhea
runny nose
sneezing
stuffy nose

P.S. In the list of killings shown, the killers weren’t killers because the drugs made them crazy.

They were crazy long before they the started the meds. They were on the drugs to try to stop being crazy.

They killed because they were crazy, not because they were on drugs to try to get better.

P.S, there is solid evidence they were all mashed potatoes eaters too. And mashed potato residue was found in their bloodstreams during their autopsies. Is that why they killed?

Thank you. Some needed common sense about Suboxone. The symptoms the article lists would be more like withdrawal symptoms.
I’ve been trying to explain this, but these experts writing these articles are looking for something to blame.
This guy could have been taking any number of substances, but the only one he was caught with did not cause him to go into a church, and kill 9 people.

Thanks for your input and sanity here.

These are not “experts.” It’s CCHR and Alex Jones from Infowars pushing this.

I’m waiting for Monday night on (P)MSNBC when the dyke is pushing this theory, while Sharpton is telling everyone that it was an inside Klan/George Bush deal.

I don’t know why people can’t understand that maybe this guy’s brain has some crossed wires or burnt chips, or maybe he’s just plain EVIL.
Oh that’s right libs can’t believe in evil because it forces that dreaded look in the mirror.

But libertarians say drugs are harmless and society needs more of them and more dealers too.

It’s weird, but I think with the new “consensus”
is that these psychiatric medicines “caused”
the aberrant behavior all of a sudden.

What if the the psychoses and neuroses “caused” the
prescriptions to the psychiatric medicines, regardless
of their effectiveness?

In other words, people are on the meds because of
a problem that contributed to the aberrant behavior....

Not mind-numbing enough, if you ask me!

Reminds me of the time when widows of two men sued Beechcraft because their Bonanza did not have a device to prevent them from flying into mountain.

It was 3:00 AM, they both had BALs of more than .20, and were with two bimbos they had picked up!

It was all the airplane’s fault!

Few note that the problem with such mind/mood-altering meds isn’t being ON them, it’s being OFF them abruptly.
Trust me: someone on them may function just fine (a little fogged maybe); miss 2-3 days of it cold turkey, real easy to do, and the consequences can be VERY scary. The person has no perception of what’s happening, but everyone around sure does.

Informed insight appreciated.

My #19 may still apply though: he may have been on a benign mitigating drug, but it was still functioning in conjunction with one; from experience someone abruptly going off a mood/mind-altering drug can go completely apes#!^ in a hurry.
