Why do both an MRI and a Cat scan? Wouldn't an MRI cover all bases?

The CAT is faster and will let you know right away if the stroke was an aneurism. If nothing found, MRI would help diagnose an ischemic stroke. That is my understanding after my wife’s stroke anyway.

cat scan is always done first if something is suspected a MRI is then done, happen to me 3 yrs ago had a small stroke had a ct done saw something so a mri was done the next day
