“For me, nothing can be as bad as 8.1, so I will upgrade.”

Same here.
8.x was so bad, so obviously bad, that I think it’s purpose was to get us to feel this way.

I have heard that the Windows 10 Blue Screen of Death will be available in "Rainbow Colors".

After all, there are no blue people.

Well, except The Blue Man Group.

I also had XP till I got 7.

I have two laptops with 8 - those I might upgrade - but this desktop will stay on 7 ALAP. (It’s a “cold dead fingers” kind of thing.)

I don't know. If you have a recent full image backup from before you signed up for it, you might try restoring your entire machine from that. But I don't honestly know if that would do it. It's what I would try if it was me.

You may have just asked the $64,000 question.

& was the closest happy I have had to the old Amiga Workbench. THAT NEVER failed.

Everyone involved with the fall of Commodore needs to be lined up and shot.

Oh well, I like 8.1. But I’ll upgrade to 10 unless there is some type of major problem with it.

> That’s it? lol....

Yeah, that's it. Not bad at all, actually, but if for some reason a user has a mission critical application that's going to be undermined, they have every reason and right to know about it. And not everyone reads Microsoft's System Requirements page, even if they should.

So this is sort of a FreeRepublic PSA for those who might otherwise not realize that everything is not necessarily hunky dory on the other side of the upgrade.

Me personally, none of the above affect me in the slightest.

For me, I’m perfectly happy with Win 7 ultimate (64 bit) and will not be upgrading until I am forced to.

I went to the MS site and they said to right click on the Windows 10 upgrade button on the right side of the lower task bar and click on “Check Upgrade Status” - then it said to click on “cancel” but there is no ‘cancel’ it just says “All done for now” no place to click ‘cancel’ ....

Me either. This is nothing. I don’t even use these.

i have several incremental images of 7, gonna roll back to the earliest one, pick up 10 on that build and start my new incremental images after that. Will have 7 as well as 10 images in case i decide to dump 10.

I’ll just take $500 and go shopping if that’s okay.

Nah, the next update cycle will re-enable it, regardless of your wishes.

If you like 8.1, I predict you're gonna LOVE Win10. It's got all the best features of 8.1, and in my opinion they are more subtly and better done.

I didn't personally like 8.0 or 8.1, but I'm an old fart who still likes how Win2000 looked and felt.

No doubt there will be EULA’s (End User Licensing Agreement) and you’ll have an opportunity to opt out if you wish.

We're on the same page. Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate is the best operating system Microsoft has ever produced, and probably ever will, in my opinion.

We're good into 2020 before we lose Win7 security updates. 5 years is plenty of time to find something to jump to when the time comes.

I agree with everything you said, but would add that I think it’s a BIG mistake for Microsoft to release buggy software that could cause that many problems, as it’s likely to finish them off in the in consumer marketplace.

Windows 8 lost them a BIG chunk of consumer market share as W8 was the final straw for millions who bailed and went to Android, iOS or OS X. A really buggy W10 that cripples or blue screens millions of consumer PC working perfectly well on W7 could be the final straw for a few million more, and I don’t see where Microsoft could recover the consumer marketplace after two major OS disasters in a row.

Good. I like my computer just the way it is. I though W10 would be spiffy but from what I’ve read so far I don’t want it.

It's okay with me! :-) $500 will buy a lot of excellent tequila.

Oh, you meant shopping for another computer?
