Yep I’ve heard about the chaperones there. For those who visit North Korea, they assign you a chaperone who shadows your every move. You aren’t free to go off and visit places on your own, or talk with people there,,as you can when on vacation in other places.

While it might be interesting on some level to visit there, the experience sounds more trouble than its worth. And due to being shadowed and your visit being censored, you really aren’t going to learn much about what that place is really like.

Pyongyang is nothing more than a fantasy to showcase North Korea to the world. It is an almost modern city where high-ranking government officials and entertainers live. People who are physically beautiful are literally kidnapped and relocated to Pyongyang.

North Koreans who do not already live in Pyongyang are forbidden to travel there.

Foreigners are not allowed to travel anywhere outside of Pyongyang.

The place is a total charade, think of 'The Capitol' in The Hunger Games series.
