Whoa that takes me back.

I'd never have known the name of the song or the origin of that classic riff had you not brought it up.

Back then this was racy. Such innocence.

Sylvia would have gone far had she lived in a more recent generation. She was very creative and pop savvy about song composition and record production. I think this is the same Sylvia Robinson who wrote ‘I Found Love On A Two Way Street”. She also wrote and performed the early 70’s hit “Pillow Talk”, sort of an Eartha Kitt meets Dusty Springfield delivery.

Oh, I confused it with “When you’re strange”. I didn’t think it was that old.

I heard that song for years without knowing Mickey and Sylvia were black. It wasn’t until I saw one of those infomercials for oldies hits that I saw what they looked like.

I’ve always found that tune strangely out of its time, like it didn’t even belong to the 1950’s.

I’ve read about her on Wikipedia; an interesting person and very influential although not all that famous. They are working on a biopic.

I grew up listening to the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s along with my 80’s, which are now considered “oldies”. This has always been one of my favorite songs for some reason.

I realized they were black from watching Designing Women. There was a talent show that had Anthony and Suzanne preforming this song - with her in black face. One of my favorite episodes even with the main subject being spousal abuse. I still like the show even if it was done by liberals.

Candidate for the best movie use of a pop song:

Sissy Spacek has always been the essence of strange, even thirty five years ago. Her name alone sounds ‘spacey’.

Peaches and Herb, 1967. At 1:50 I just adore her cooing “Daddy. Uh-Huh Daddy. My sweet daddy. You’re the one” in the sexiest voice imaginable. Makes me feel like I’m 16 again.
