Forgive me, but I had to post an 'extra' this week!
A while back there was a discussion about peeling hard-boiled eggs. ( I think I mentioned that the only time I wound up without pock-marked eggs was when I *wasn't* making them for a party. My party eggs are always ugly.)
In the interim, I found something on the 'net, and decided to try it today. I wasn't expecting much, because I haven't had luck with any of the other suggestions that are out there.
But, this is amazing! All of my eggs but one came out almost perfect, and that one was probably bad because I got distracted talking to the Husband, and didn't shake long enough.
I used older eggs, cooked them in my electric egg cooker, put them into ice water for about 10 minutes, and then shook them in a glass jar with an inch of water. I have pretty small hands, so I used a pint-size mason jar with a lid, and shook the eggs back and forth for 5 to 10 seconds. (I only did one egg at a time, and changed-out the water after every two eggs - I think that's important; too many shell-bits seem to mess up the process and leave tiny pits on the otherwise perfectly-shelled eggs.
My boiled-egg peeling issues are over, and this process took only a small fraction of the time that it usually takes to peel eggs:

I like this! and your Shirred Egg recipe as well.
Here’s one I found a while back, but haven’t tried yet:

Mmmmmm......thanks for the yummy link.
It won’t be the first hair brained thing I’ve tried. Hopefully this one will turn out better than they usually do. ;^)
Tried everything to get easy to peel eggs and nothing worked for me until I tried the following method. I have literally peeled an egg that was still slightly warm using one hand. Perfect egg and no green on the yolk.
You need:
8-14 eggs
6-7 cups water in a 2 qt pan no lid
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup vinegar
Bring water, salt and vinegar to a boil. Add eggs one at a time (I use a spoon to set them in the pan without cracking the shell). Reduce heat to a gentler boil and cook for 13-14 min. They don’t get rubbery. Then, pour out the hot water, replace with cold running water and top with ice. Let sit for 15 minutes and they are ready to peel. So easy!
I just tap and roll cooled down boiled eggs on the side of the sink back and forth with the palm of my hand - keeping them wet with water before during and after - comes right off. A uniform roll will pull off the whole shell with the membrane intact.
Older the egg- easier it goes, but also works with fresher ones.
I have those little poach-pods, and they make poached eggs easier than anything I’ve tried!

So, do the eggs have to be still warm from cooking, or does this work if they were cooked and put into the refrigerator for a while?
Good idea. Thanks!
See post 14. I haven’t tried it with cooked and refrigerated eggs yet, but I will try and report.

I pray peeling eggs is our biggest problem this year. Be happy!!
Well, it won’t be. But we’ll still have to eat, and a well- and happily-fed stomach make us stronger in many ways.
(Somebody once said that “an army marches on its stomach”...I think it was some French guy.....;-)

Starbucks?? Nice of them to do that.
I am convinced this is because when we went on road trips to visit relatives, often Mom had egg salad sandwiches to feed us for lunch because Dad didn't like stopping somewhere. We had five kids in a hot, crowded car (WAY before A/C) and Igloo coolers didn't exist yet. The sandwiches were warm (a wonder we didn't get food poisoning!). We also usually had a lot of left over eggs from Easter egg hunts and we had to eat them lest they went to waste. To this day, I do not like egg salad, stuffed eggs or most any kind of eggs other than perhaps a well-made omelet or soft scrambled eggs with bacon or sausage though, lately, I am getting so I don't even like eggs any way they are prepared. I say it's all Mom's fault!
Y'all enjoy them, though! ☺
I use a pushpin to poke a hole in the blunt end. It keeps them from cracking and leaking. It works for me.
Cool trick if it works on cold eggs, not quite as cool if your eggs will not last as long peeled.
BB -stand by your side! hard boiled eggs or not my cup of tea either. And...anything ..BUT Deviled eggs- gag. Never was much of an ‘egg’ person until recent years. Now enjoy a nice fluffy omelet, soft scrambled and of course quiches and such. Fried, over easy, deviled eggs, and boiled eggs only bring out the chicken in me. Don’t care fore the taste or the smell.
Though not an egg recipe, this morning this recipe caught the eye for an easy, looks to be scrumptious meal.

If I had to find a sewing pin....well, it would be like trying to find my iron....they're somewhere. Have neither sewed or ironed in years.
Starbuck’s CEO Howard Schultz has been vocal in support of the US military-—is in some kind of program w/ industry to give vets jobs.
In Starbuck’s near military bases-—soldiers can go in and get free coffee—I think their kids get free cake-pops (that kids love).
Schultz has also been vocal in support of conceal and carry, Though he’d prefer gun owners not bring guns into Starbucks, I have seem coffee buyers sporting guns in hip holsters .
