Men value intelligence in women far above large breasts and long legs, a Cambridge evolutionary biologist has claimed.

Although having a large bust and never-ending pins are deemed by western culture as the epitome of femininity, when choosing a mother for their children, men look for brains first,

Professor David Bainbridge, of the University of Cambridge said that intelligence is by far the most attractive quality for men looking for a long term partner because it demonstrates that his chosen partner is likely to be a responsible parent.

The woman on the left is Hedy_Lamarr. The diagram on the left is from US Patent 2,292,387.

Lamarr was a actress with an extensive list of credits.. She was also co-inventor of a system to encrypt radio communications.

The system was not adopted during WWII, but was eventually used by the Navy during the Cuba blockade in 1962.

Why should you care? Look at your cellphone, your Bluetooth headset, and your laptop. WiFi, Bluetooth, and CDMA (used by your cellphone to connect to the nearest tower) are all based on the principles laid out in this patent.

I decided that intellect is good but that kindness (not just to you but also to the people around them) is a better indicator of the potential for a lasting marriage.

Mrs BN's looks caught my eye, but her kindness to others, especially those who needed a friend, was what caused me to make a deeper evaluation. That, and her decisiveness and level head during a minor security crisis at the women's dorm at college.

After than, during a nice lunch at "The Pickle Barrel" restaurant in Old Town, Chicago, I ran down my mental check list of requirements for a girl to be considered as "wife potential". After checking off about 6 or 7 items, I decided, "I really need to get to know this one better!"

45 years later, I'm still getting to know her better!
