Hm: All 15 Charter School Applicants Rejected in NY

Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) recently proposed the Parental Choice in Education Act as a way to provide more opportunity for parents in choosing which schools would be the best fit for their children. The legislation would use $70 million in taxpayer money to create an education tax credit for families making $60,000 or less. Parents who qualify could receive up to $500 in a tax credit or refund for each student attending a private school. Among other benefits, it would also encourage more private school scholarships.

"This is about fairness and this is about parents choosing the school that is right for their children," Cuomo said on Sunday, as he promoted the idea in four churches in New York City. "We must reward donations to support public schools, give tax credits to teachers who pay for classroom supplies out of pocket, and ease the financial burden on families who exercise choice in sending their children to a nonpublic school."

And

However, a new report all but proves this is a far fetched goal and that school choice is non-existent in New York. Fifteen charter school applicants who applied to operate in the state have just found out they’ve all been turned down.

I’m seriously finding it harder and harder to justify living here. the south shore of Staten Island where I live may be an enclave of sanity but for how long? there are no words for how I feel about this mayor. And his gall changing his last name to his mothers Italian name is an insult to all Americans with Italian heritage

My nephew is moving to Fort Worth to teach elementary school.

Twice the salary and nearly half the cost-of-living than Seattle.

I grew up in NYC and moved, more like escaped 4 years ago. Best thing I ever did in my life. The stress level alone dropped 100% not to mention I am saving a lot more money, especially without the city breathing down my back 24/7 trying to steal every last cent. It’s amazing the difference just between people who live there and live in other places. I’m sure Staten Island is better but I can’t even imagine the hell it must be now in the other boroughs with this commie as Mayor. People thought Bloomberg was bad? This guy Duh Blasio is just getting started. NYC voting for this slimebag was an act of suicide, he is going to burn that city to the ground. I heard his wife, the “former lesbian” was bashing cops last week and this while crime is rocketing up. My father and uncle are retired NYPD cops, they said they would rather eat s**t than be a cop nowadays lol lol Seriously, I can’t even imagine the level of paranoia now on the force not only from being killed, but ending up in jail if you have to shoot a thug. Without question it’s making cops hesitate and that’s what got that cop Brian Moore killed. I mean think about it - He sees a thug with a gun in his waistband and he doesn’t pull his gun on him. Why? He didn’t want to get into trouble and it cost him his life. Same with those two cops killed in New Jersey. That’s more blood on the hands of slimebags like Duh Blasio and Sharpton.

Texans hope he doesn’t vote like the sappy Seattle voters do. We are already fed up with the CA refugees, who flee to Texas for our economy, but then start bitching about how conservative our Republican Texas legislature is. We ought to have built a fence in West Texas.

everything you say is right. The reasons for staying are getting fewer and fewer. And this guy is a sick nightmare and I can’t believe he is mayor.

You’re welcome here. Take a look at home prices and how much space you get for the money:

“The legislation would use $70 million in taxpayer money to create an education tax credit”

How does one spend millions on a “tax credit”? Where is that money really supposed to be going?

Californicators destroyed AZ. When I came here in the 90s as a NY refugee, I didn’t bring NY’s problems with me. NY’s problems are partly why I left. It seemed logical.

Californians also moved to and ruined Washington State en masse in the 80’s and 90’s when Microsoft and Starbucks were founded and started on a large scale.
