If it was tuna... how can it be SALMONella? (giggle, giggle)
Okay, that’s funny.
I always tell my sushi eating friends that humans tamed fire for a reason.
Reason number 2 that I don’t eat sushi.
I love sushi and raw fish, but I hate tuna!
That Tuna is not consumed in the US.
Raw fish is bait.
I can’t imagine eating bait.
right? I never understood the insistence on eating raw fish.
Have you noticed all the metrosexual seafood chef rage is serving people three (3) scallops raw on the inside? I’ve never seen a bigger case of group-think. You only get 3 because scallops aren’t ‘sustainable’.
It’s a staple here in Hawaii. We call it Ahi, or yellow fin tuna, not the tuna in the can. It is fished in the waters south and east of the Big Island, and many fisherman make their livelihood on it. They come into Suisan Market here in Hilo at dawn with their catch, which can be seen each morning. It’s immediately at the supermarkets and restaurants, and flown over Oahu, so we have it fresh as can be. With some wasabi (hot green Japanese mustard paste) and shoyu (soy sauce) it is positively ono (delicious)!
You’re making my mouth water! We leave for vacation in two weeks, and my goal is to get as much sashimi as possible.
I always have tuna on toast. Nothing’s ever worked out for me with tuna on toast. I want the complete opposite of tuna on toast.
The US accounts for about 5% of the global bluefin tuna catch, and over half of the US catch is exported, mainly to Japan. About 3/4 of the global bluefin catch goes to Japan where its fatty flesh is consumed as the highest grades of sushi and sashimi - maguro and toro.
I am completely unaware of any of that stuff.
I don’t go to restaurants, meterosexual or otherwise.
I would think raw scallops are madness.
They are filthy bottom sucking scavengers.
Battered and deep friend, however, they are delicious.
I could eat a whole box full.
:)
I used to fish with my Dad when I was just a little thing. Raw fish is bait. I have friends who just adore it... but I have never eaten it.
I can’t even look at it.
I think of all the parasites that fish carry in their flesh and my skin crawls.
But, to each his own.
[GAG!]
LOL
Eh, brah, I stay miss da kine plate lunch w/mac salad and 2 scoop rice.
