An Omaha police officer and a suspect involved in a shootout Wednesday have died. Kerrie Orozco, 29, a gang unit officer was serving a warrant on the Metro Fugitive Task Force when she was shot.

She was serving a warrant on the task force? Are any of the three authors of this story conversant with English?
That said, very tragic loss.
This young officer also gave birth a few months ago..prayers sent to this family and this little baby who will never know her mother
Officer Orozco had a baby in February. Baby was in hospital in intensive care and scheduled to come home tomorrow!

Dear Lord! What a tragedy.
I read that she saved her maternity leave to be with the baby after the baby’s release from the hospital. Tomorrow would have been her last day of work before the leave started.

Thats correct. She did save her leave to be with baby after leaving hospital.
She was also a very active volunteer for girl scouts and coached youth baseball.

I noticed that as well. We just moved to Omaha a few months ago - I thought I was moving to a relatively conservative state.

The criminal had shot someone in December and was a member of a gang. Wonder when Obamas justice department will arrive. We have a few who want to stir this up but that's going to be hard when there is a newborn without a mother, husband and step children left behind and many in the black community who loved her.
I have family that was in and currently is in the Omaha police dept. Police here have a really tough job. Omaha has a real gang problem as well as Al sharpton wannabes. Ernie chambers, who has made worse comments than any racial baiter I've ever heard will stir things up. Just watch.
