Ah, I remember the clear vinyl seat covers that would heat to roughly the temperature of molten steel in the sunlight at the beach, and then you’d sit down on it with nothing but your bathing suit on...

I have a rig that still has those. Used to use it for snow plowing. Now I just keep the rig for sentimental value. Used to be in great shape, until my son rolled it. He came out with only a small scratch on his finger. Knocked out all damage, replaced the windshield, still runs great.

"Also known as a ‘suicide knob’. Illegal in my state, IIRC."

We called them necker's knobs.

Yikes! We never had the clear seat covers, but we had several cars with vinyl seats. On especially hot days, I swear I could hear my flesh sizzle when I sat down on that bench seat wearing nothing but jean cutoffs and a t-shirt.

I still have a rig that has them also, and I use them every time I drive it. It's a 1969 Ford.

Rumble seats!

Just kidding. Even I'm not old enough to remember many original rumble seats.
