The strip malls I see are about 1/3 to 1/2 vacant these days. An anchor store closes and the little businesses are having a terrible time surviving.
You should see Annapolis Mall. Thriving. I guess it just depends where you are. I was down in Orlando and the Millennium Mall is crowded but it is upscale. I think the poor or working class areas are doing poorly but the upper class areas are doing well.
