I have read ‘eagles’ translated as ‘vultures’.
????
For the first fifteen or so years of being a Christian I had heard only the pre tribulation rapture theology. It’s only been since I have been reading more and more of the bible that I am questioning the validity of a dispensational theology.
The more I read, the less a pretrib rapture makes sense.
26And, as it came to pass in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of Man; 27they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were given in marriage, till the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the deluge came, and destroyed all; 28in like manner also, as it came to pass in the days of Lot; they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building; 29and on the day Lot went forth from Sodom, He rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed all. 30According to these things it shall be, in the day the Son of Man is revealed; 31in that day, he who shall be on the house top, and his vessels in the house, let him not come down to take them away; and he in the field, in like manner, let him not turn backward; 32remember the wife of Lot. 33Whoever may seek to save his life, shall lose it; and whoever may lose it, shall preserve it. 34I say to you, In that night, there shall be two men on one couch, the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left; 35two women shall be grinding at the same place together, the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left; 36two men shall be in the field, the one shall be taken, and the other left. 37And they answering say to him, Where, sir? and he said to them, Where the body [is], there will the eagles be gathered together.
In the day of The Son of Man, the bridegroom who comes to get His bride, calling her out to return to The Father's House. NOT the coming Day of The Lord, which is a power judgment day for humanity.
The author of this article certainly doesn’t have a clue concerning Protestant beliefs. He would do well to research the accusations he levels. The idea of a ‘rapture’, be it ‘pre-trib’, ‘mid-trib’ or ‘post-trib’, is an idea that arose less than two hundred years ago, from the interpretation of Scripture by one John Nelson Darby. This interpretation seems most popular in the land of Hollywood and other English speaking countries and most certainly does NOT represent the belief of ALL Protestants.
Painting with such a broad brush stroke, would be akin my stating that, ‘All Roman Catholics worship Mary.’ THAT false statement would raise the ire of many Roman Catholics on this board, yet I have several Roman Catholics who claim that their faith requires the worship of Mary.
Mr. Martingnoni would do well to research his claims before stating them. The old sage advice that, ‘It is better to be thought an idiot, than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt.’ most certainly applies in this instance.
As is typical, this Catholic is counting on other Catholics who reject the scriptures to follow right along behind him...He clearly doesn’t have a clue what the bible is talking about...
I don’t think we will be able to clearly understand end times events until they are about to happen and we need to take action. The underlining concept we all should understand and agree on is “be ready” for when it happens.
2/3s of the Old Testament is a witness to this future earthly kingdom...I'd suspect that you haven't read enough of the bible to even know if it is in there but are just repeating what some nut job told you...
There is an interesting prophecy from a German Rabbi, Judah ben Samuel. This prophecy was given from Elijah to the Rabbi concerning the fate of Jerusalem. In 1217 the Rabbi was told that six Jubilee periods and Jerusalem would be take over by the Ottoman Turks. The Turks would hold Jerusalem for eight Jubilee periods until they too would be expelled and Jerusalem made a 'no man's land' for one Jubilee period. Then the Jews would take Jerusalem and hold it for one Jubilee period, until they make a contract with someone who will offer Peace and safety but violate the compact and rain hell down on Jerusalem. Since a Jubilee period covers fifty years, one cane see that the Rabbi saw something very significant in 2017. I contend the Church will not be here when that begins in 2017, so the Rapture could happen from this moment until the contract is signed.
I have also heard vultures.
I had never thought about those who were taken away being taken away to be “scavenged” where the vultures are. Grim sort of bad things happening image.
You could do a passage comparison, to see if these are two different references. The passage in Luke refers to Eagles, for due to Believers being the focus.
Early dispensationalist taught that Matthew 24:40 was a reference to the second coming and not to the rapture. (check Scofield’s notes) The first reference to the rapture is when Paul said “Behold I show you a mystery.”(1 Cor 15:51) The word mystery means that something new is revealed. I don’t know how the interpretation of Matthew 24:40 got reversed by the mainstream teachers somewhere mid 20th century.
Many of Roods teachings and practices are drawn from this cult which was widely 'denounced by Christian leaders'.
He designs and invents complete fabrications of fact in order to raise money,...and give presentations....
Further...his teaching is in direct opposition to the Word of God in the 70 weeks of Daniel prophecy......he has a 'track record' of false teachings, and I would warn people to stay away from him.
If your a lib, the gays go to Heaven,
If you are normal, The normal people go to Heaven.
[The underlining concept we all should understand and agree on is be ready for when it happens.]
First Thessalonians plainly describes the “meeting the Lord in the air” as following the General Resurrection. The you quote from Matthew’s Gospel and the parallel passage in Luke were always understood as referring to the Last Judgement until some sentimentalist in the 19th century invented the notion of the “pre-tribulation rapture” which deprives the Church in the last days of the glory of martyrdom which she had in the first days after Our Lord’s Ascension.
St. Cyril of Alexandria in his 118th Homily on the Gospel of St. Luke links the parallel passage in Luke with that in First Thessalonians and sees them both as applying the Last Judgement — the understanding the whole Church East and West, including all of the confessions that arose from the Reformation held of the matter until the 19th century.
Interesting site. Thank you.
Actually, I am under the impression that the letters to Galatians and 1st Thessalonians came before the letters to the Church at Corinth. And you are doubtless aware of 1Thess4:13-18.
The Tribulation period is a time of wrath, God’s wrath poured out upon a God rejecting Humanity who are slaughtering the 144,000 elect JEWISH Saints evangelizing the survivors following the Rapture. The wrath of God falling upon The Church makes no sense to anyone but those misled. If you want to stick around for the wrath being poured out, just keep rejecting the Gospel of Grace in Christ and the immediate sealing by the Holy Spirit upon your human spirit, and you will be around to tell the survivors what they need do to then to receive God’s Christ.
The bride of Christ is mentioned only twice in scripture and both times it refers to the Heavenly Jerusalem, not the church.
