How is this even a question? For convinced sure. Gas all the way. But if your grilling for quality, it’s not really debatable. Pick your flavor of smoke and go.

The answer is: it doesn’t matter. The EPA is going to ban ‘em all.

Which means I’ll finally be an outlaw, and my weapons will be a spatula and tongs.

Sam's Club and other stores sell hybrids that do both.

Anyone that wants a hard and fast rule for all occasions is an idiot.

Charcoal.

Anybody who says otherwise has poor taste buds.

I have a cute little Weber table-top gas grill. Love it! I’ve even set it on fire a time or two and it keeps on kickin’ it, LOL!

I’m buying Beau a Smoker for his birthday. With all the wild game he harvests (bear, deer, squirrel, rabbit and the occasional cow he hits with the truck, LOL!) we’ll have some awesome jerky in the future!

I have a smoker, charcoal grill and gas grill. Tonight I’m making chicken quarters on the charcoal grill. I use my smoker for slow smoked pulled pork and other meats. I use the gas grill for fish and other stuff that does not take too much time.

Charcoal is best.

A gas grill? You might as well be using the indoor kitchen stove. You’ll get the same taste.

Apparently they have wood burning, propane assisted grills. so we have a hybrid that uses both.

Pecan for the smoker, though plum is great for pork.

Charcoal for the grill.

For the flavor purist, Traeger smoker. For convenience gas with infrared burner option and smoker box for slow cooking.

My ribs are some of the best you will eat by slow cooking and apple smoke box on a gas grill.

All I know is the pleasant odor of charcoal or gas grilled meat drives the envirowacko’s and petaites out of their ever lost mind, so either way it is all good.

I had a Weber charcoal grill for many years and swore I’d never get a gas grill.

But when I sold my old house that had a concrete patio (easy to hose off) and bought a townhouse with a wood deck, I purchased a two burner gas grill for the ease of cleaning and ease of use and I loved it.

I also purchased a cast iron smoker box. You can get wood chips that come in variety – hickory, apple wood, cherry wood, etc., and soak them for a while in water (or apple juice or beer, whatever you want) and put the wet chips in the smoker box when heating up the grill.

The smoke imparts the desired smokiness to the food without all the mess.

That being said, I wouldn’t mind having a charcoal or a gas grill or a smoker. But I now live in a second floor apartment and can’t have a grill. Although people with first floor concrete patios can and on a beautiful sunny 80 degree day like today, the smell of other people grilling makes me near crazy.
