Why Do Women Wear Makeup?

Posted on 05/01/2015 7:21:55 AM PDT by newb2012

I have always wondered what makes a woman feel beautiful and comfortable stepping out of their homes only after wearing their makeup, most of them despite having flawless and beautiful skin and features. As silly as it sounds, I have always been intrigued by this. Guys, you can have all the fun you want with your comments but I’m really looking to see the girls’ perspective on this.

That’s a good point.

Although...I will say I don’t mind some scruff or facial hair. I tend to like that, although clean-shaven is just called for sometimes.

Old barns always look better with a little new paint on them, cake is better with frosting, etc.

LOL...

Sometimes I see guys take that attitude, and it seems like they really would like to take themselves back to this age in their lives because things were so simpler then:

Didn't say a nice l'il number with that Joan Jett "paint sprayer" application of makeup wasn't hot. Being an 80's kindof guy the big hair-ed metal look is still verrry attractive.
And yeah. l'il red there has some makeup on and no doubt some air brush. But still, I'm bettin come the "mornin after" I wouldn't be chewing off my arm (SHE MIGHT!).
'Course, it's almost a given that the better they look, the bigger a PITA they are. Somebody, somewhere, is tired of their crap. Natural beauty is not just determined by outer appearance. But it's a good start. I've seen some smokin hot older ladies that had that right twinkle in their eyes and a nice smile. With very little unnecessary makeup. d;^)
The "Tammy Fayes"... Ehhh, not so much.

If you would like to Freepmail me with details, I’d love to hear what you’ve tried (don’t want to bore the guys).

Oh, the eighties...loved them! Now back then we wore the BRIGHT makeup, and lots of it, but we looked good, LOL.

Yep, she's gorgeous, no doubt.

Oh, not really. I think sometimes women AND men get it into their heads that they're too good-looking for their own good. But not always.

Agree completely.

which, BTW, is not very easy to find where I live.

Which is why God created the internet. I, pretty much, have to order online for a lot of stuff I used to be able to get at the stores; but, can no longer find. I live in a suburb of Seattle, and I cannot get Gleem toothpaste. So, I order it online, it is delivered to my doorstep.

All photographs that appear in mass media are in some way massaged by Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, mostly). This isn’t necessarily an insult to the model or photographer, or even a deception deception, but necessary to make the image reproduce well. Sometimes photographs don’t represent reality and they have to be manipulated a little. As an example, few people look as good in a photograph as they do in real life. Is it more truthful to print the ugly picture, or one that’s more representative of their impression when you meet them in real life?

I think you should do a little historical research. Try Sumerian and Egyptian history for starters. Along with cuneiform script and hieroglyphics many beauty artifacts have been found. So in essence beauty enhancement goes back to prehistoric times. Kohl, Henna and fragrant ointments go back that far.

No matter how good a woman looks, makeup serves to conceal flaws-

I certainly can't argue with that......but personally, I prefer women who don't use makeup. They look the same in the morning as they did when we went to bed.........

Hey, I do! I put it on after I get up and take it off before I go to bed!

You know I'm teasing you...I do see your point.

You know what? There are women who are just as attractive without make-up as there are with and I suspect you fall in either category........so there!

He’s got eyeliner and shadow. The color on his face is mostly lighting. Women love that guy.
