I used to box. I always had a plan against a boxer with superior power until he hit me. Then my plan was to see my mother again one last time.
You jut get lost. The SOLID jab to the face 100 percent head on by someone really strong just almost completely disorients you. At least it did me.
And the same happened to opponents who I hit harder than from what I saw.
But I’m sure you are favored to win if you have the longer reach (as Mayweather has )...
Amen. Even going x3 two-minute rounds or x2 three-minute rounds can be exhausting, even for someone who is young & in good shape. Boxing takes a different type of psychology, fitness, and stamina than other sports. Max respect.
The smartest thing I ever heard Mike Tyson say:
“Everyone has a plan, until you get punched in the face”
“I used to box.”
When I was growing up in Brooklyn, the gym by my house featured boxing along with the typical gym stuff. If you wanted to use the gym, you had to get in the ring, once.
Got in the ring, don’t know what hit me but I had to crawl across the ring to pick up my mouthguard, nose and a couple of teeth that were in the mouthguard. And I was wearing headgear.
“Then my plan was to see my mother again one last time.”
LOL. Nice turn of phrase.
