Although liberals are allowed to practice free speech in the classroom, conservatives are not allowed the same freedom.

This year, she has a conservative history teacher who had to identify himself as such at the beginning of the year and because he was asked to, he also teaches from his point of view. He's been called sexist, racist— you name it. But he is a very nice, funny guy so he is popular with many of the kids and parents. He's also opened up a lot of kids eyes. It's the first year my daughter has enjoyed any class related to history or politics. And when they debate, my daughter can take a conservative viewpoint. He doesn't penalize the more liberal thinkers, but the other teachers always told my daughter she was wrong. This year she feels free to raise her hand and be pro 2A in class. She got gasps when he asked why citizens had a right to own guns, she raised her hand and said “it's my 2nd amendment right”.At least half the class was shocked when the teacher agreed! Eleventh grade and they are brainwashed to think my daughter is crazy for her correct answer!
My kid is going to college for nursing and told me the liberal instructor speaks of his political views often. I don’t think it should be allowed. She’s not taking a political class, why the politics then? It makes the conservative students feel awkward or defensive at times. That’s uncalled for imo.
On another thread I mentioned how just this week, one teacher said “Palin said she can see Russia from her house - she’s so dumb” and another said “Jesus turned a little girl into an owl because she wouldn’t give him any bread.”
I’m guessing any complaints I had would go unanswered. (My daughter emailed both teachers though.)
