African-American participation in baseball is on the decline. This isn't a new development. Over the past couple years, a number of black athletes have addressed the issue.
This isn't just an issue for other black players, it's becoming an issue for black fans, according to comedian Chris Rock. Rock gave his take on the alarmingly low rates of blacks in baseball for HBO's "Real Sports with Bryant Gumble." (WARNING: NSFW Language).
Rock's rant is humorous, obviously, but it also points out some discouraging facts about why fewer black people are playing, and watching, the game. The fact that Howard, a prominent all-black college, doesn't even have a baseball team should give some idea of how troubling this situation has become.

There’s plenty of blacks in baseball. They just have spanish names because they’re from the DR.
The fans don't care what color the athletes are. They enjoy the game.
It’s like this Chris, it takes time to be a good baseball player. At least 3-4 years playing in the minors then maybe another 3-4 years riding the bench in the show. Why would AA yutes want to do that when they can be millionaires a year out of high school? Baseball would be perfect for AA yutes where they can fail 70% of the time and still be considered good.
African Americans? I know several from South Africa. What color of skin is he referring to?
Yes, I was going to mention Dominicans too. Of course many Dominicans are quite Hispanic looking, but I think most of them are what we call Black,
In fact, I remember the first time I ever saw, or I should say heard, Dominicans. I went home and asked my mother “who are those black people who speak Spanish?” and she said “Dominicans”.
They should be considered more “truly black” that our President.
They own the teams now.
Just a hunch here, but maybe it’s because they like faster moving sports and/or contact sports? Again ... just guessing.

Howcum, as part of the complaint, wasn’t it mentioned that most MLBaseball players are from the Caribbean region? That should have been the first sentence of Rock’s complaint.
Maybe its cuz they test fer drugs.
Maybe they are selling drugs and rioting rather than playing Baseball?

I saw him once in a club, he’s about 5’4” and a complete clown.
Has it been shrinking? Perhaps it has with all the black-on black killing. All the more reason Rock has rocks in his head.
