Heck, I’d like to live outside a mental hospital, but I’m stuck living in this crazy insane asylum called America.

Wonder how he felt after he found out that Jodie Foster played for the other team?

“While living with her, he is allowed to live a normal life that includes unsupervised shopping and dining out, and occasional contact with the US Secret Service.”

All so normal for all Americans to have occasional contact with the Secret Service.

Since he shot a conservative Republican, I’m waiting for Obozo to award him the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

[[John Hinckley requests to live outside mental hospital]]

But it;’s much warmer inside, but if he insists, I say ok- just chain him to the side of the mental institution and give him a tarp to cover up with for when it rains

John Hinckley’s mother has got to be about 87 years old by now. I believe they are working on what to do when she passes. He may end of back at the hospital. His siblings have not so far elected to invite him to their homes.

It always made me proud to live in a country where a nobody could shoot the President and two other government officials, then receive a fair trial, rather than summary execution.

Of course, those days are long gone. Now, DC is one big spider hole. Look at what happened to Miriam Carey. And we have people screaming that the gyrocopter guy should’ve been shot down.

America. It was nice while it lasted.

What's not to like here?
Releasing a guy with a tendency to shoot Presidents into society. (just for the next year and nine months anyway).

President Reagan was nearly fatally wounded but his response to Nancy: “Sorry Honey, I guess I forgot to duck.” What a guy.

If the law is applied objectively, he should be released. There is no reason to think he would constitute a danger to himself or others at this date, given what is reported of his stable mental status.

After a finding of NGRI, treatment is just that--treatment. It is not meant to be punishment or penal confinement. The NG part of NGRI means "not guilty" after all. The Supreme Court has ruled long ago that whatever the reason for confining someone, it must not be for longer than necessary to accomplish its stated purpose.

I know the emotional reaction and frankly don't personally care if he is not released. But under the law, and given the information available, he should be.
