Why men refuse to marry: Women complain chaps today won't settle down.
The Daily Mail ^ | April 20, 2015 | Peter Lloyd

A controversial new book argues that the triumph of feminism has meant men are now second-class citizens.

George Clooney, Benedict Cumberbatch and Eddie Redmayne may have all taken the plunge recently — but they are a diminishing band of brothers, for the number of men marrying in the West has plunged in recent decades.

The state of matrimony is not just ailing. It is dying out faster than a mobile phone battery.

According to the Office for National Statistics, marriage in Britain is at its lowest level since 1895. In 2011, there were just 286,634 ceremonies — a 41 per cent free fall from 1972, when 480,285 couples tied the knot.

For an army of women, Mr Right is simply not there, no matter how hard they look for him. And the reason? When it comes to marriage, men are on strike.

Why? Because the rewards are far less than they used to be, while the cost and dangers it presents are far greater.

‘Ultimately, men know there’s a good chance they’ll lose their friends, their respect, their space, their sex life, their money and — if it all goes wrong — their family,’ says Dr Helen Smith, a lecturer at the University of Tennessee and author of Why Men Are Boycotting Marriage, Fatherhood And The American Dream.

and they DO have a choice.

A choice to never, EVER, get married.

Samuel Johnson knew a man in an unhappy marriage who, after his wife died, quickly married again, and commented that it was "the triumph of hope over experience."

It's possible that Churchill also made the same comment.

Yep. Having been married, I’m not impressed with the institution and have no intention of ever trying it again. I’m pretty happy to sail this ship alone, and I salute the men who do it too. And if everyone could manage to not make babies outside of marriage, we’d be even better off yet.

Could very well be: I've always heard it attributed to Sir Winston but I suppose it wouldn't be beyond him to quote Samuel Johnson.

My favorite Samuel Johnson quote - "A ship is like a prison with the chance of being drowned".

I suppose part of my problem is that I was looking for a man just like my Dad. My Dad was responsible, hard working, loved his family and for a little guy, tough and strong when necessary. I don’t know whether men in my generation were emasculated by feminism or, thanks to feminism, they figured they didn’t even have to try anymore.

The feminist movement did propel capable women into professions they could not even consider generations ago. But the movement had its downside in creating generations of men and women who could not have or sustain healthy relationships. It also has a lot to do with why children are being brought into single parent environments with no father and a mother who simply doesn’t care. The traditional family as we know it is dying out.

Like Eve, women still take the fruit first, but men follow.

Secular marriage sounds like it's not worth much, to a lot of people.

I think you really have to commit to something much higher than your own feelings, which are, after all, fleeing, or your own self-interest, individually considered.

I am blessed to be in a happy marriage with a wonderful husband, but I don't want to come off as "triumphal' towards those who are less fortunate. I can just say that the mercy of God has kept us together, We both agreed sincerely at the outset that divorce would not even be a possibility: so we're motivated to live in peace and to work things out. And we have enjoyed a true love and trust worth living for. You have to commit to God and to your children.

through Sheen’s character.

On the contrary, Sheen's character was successful, took pride in his achievements, did not care what others thought and refused to be tied down to one woman. He appreciated sluts for what they were and treated them as such. That character is to be emulated by single men.

I used scheme tongue in cheek but didn’t do it well. They were much more religious than today, more modest, and they understood the gift they were giving with sex.
Modern science teachers that oxytocin plays a much stronger role in woman than men Evolution shows that women wanted a strong protector for a mate. These things kill feminists. Too bad. BTW did you ever met one? What a bitter, bitter group.
BTW, I used to box in my 20s but then gained weight and got up to 250. Do you know that at least five women in my new York office challenged me to arm wrestles, weight lifting contest, and one even a boxing match :) Did the arm wrestles for laughs but wouldn’t hurt them. Honesty, I felt NO pressure. Like I was holding air. Didn’t beat them for fear of hurting them. Just left m arm in upright position. Went to gymn with one and benched 250, low for me. The gal benched about 55 pounds. As for the girl who wanted to fight, I just punched a piece of the wall off in our elevator area, she looked stunned, and never said anything again. She also believed Stalin as a savior lol,

It is, but many supposedly committed Christian women, take a secular view when it comes to divorcing their husbands.

Divorce laws.

Somehow, the feminist movement has gotten the courts to think that we are still in the 18th century - where the man is THE breadwinner and a woman cannot possibly make it on her own without him.

When your wife finds another guy and feels she’s gotten just about all she’s gonna ‘get’ out of you and files for divorce, YOU are then on trial as a criminal and stripped of EVERYTHING you’ve worked for your entire life. Your ex gets half and the lawyers and court get the other half.

EVERYTHING is stacked against the husband now. Everything.

Women:

#1. DON’T even consider men who are ‘losers’. If they don’t even have a job, WHERE are you meeting them? It’s probably the wrong place.

I hear this from SOOOO many singles - Can’t find a ‘decent’ one... in the bars and party places.
Of COURSE you won’t!

People want decent, honorable people but won’t go to the places you FIND those kind of folks.

If you fish where sewage is dumped, you’re gonna get carp.

Have you ever asked what these women have done to DESERVE a "decent" one?

Chances are the ones complaining are one of three types:

1. Blimpasauruses
2. Obnoxious and with two or more kids by two or more baby daddies who you don't want to pay for
3. Sluts with at 20+ knob count who are sterile from repeated gonnorhea infections

Exactly. Men are only making rational choices, and opting out. The institution has been so watered down. Plus the laws that were once meant to protect women have gone completely overboard and saddled men with burdens and obligations they should not be responsible for. So if they have second thoughts about entering into a legal contract where they forfeit half of their income and property, why blame them?

No, they don’t marry those types of girls. Not even when they are older.
