Why men refuse to marry: Women complain chaps today won't settle down.
The Daily Mail ^ | April 20, 2015 | Peter Lloyd

A controversial new book argues that the triumph of feminism has meant men are now second-class citizens.

George Clooney, Benedict Cumberbatch and Eddie Redmayne may have all taken the plunge recently — but they are a diminishing band of brothers, for the number of men marrying in the West has plunged in recent decades.

The state of matrimony is not just ailing. It is dying out faster than a mobile phone battery.

According to the Office for National Statistics, marriage in Britain is at its lowest level since 1895. In 2011, there were just 286,634 ceremonies — a 41 per cent free fall from 1972, when 480,285 couples tied the knot.

For an army of women, Mr Right is simply not there, no matter how hard they look for him. And the reason? When it comes to marriage, men are on strike.

Why? Because the rewards are far less than they used to be, while the cost and dangers it presents are far greater.

‘Ultimately, men know there’s a good chance they’ll lose their friends, their respect, their space, their sex life, their money and — if it all goes wrong — their family,’ says Dr Helen Smith, a lecturer at the University of Tennessee and author of Why Men Are Boycotting Marriage, Fatherhood And The American Dream.

Can’t blame the men. Between women giving it up to a man because he said, “hi” and the courts taking him to the cleaners and making him financially responsible for children that weren’t his, because the wife had them with somebody else.

Why would a man marry?

the biggest turner is losing 50% of your wealth after getting married then divorced and your wife contributed little or nothing to it

Like I said before on another thread, women used to trade sex for love and a lifetime of caring and commitment, now they trade it for a meal, a drink, or just to kill a few hours. They don’t understand how brutally strong the male sex drive is. many will get it when and where they can in today’s society.
In my mother’s times, the women had a scheme...If none of them had sex before marriage then the guy would marry his girlfriend and really cherish sex with her. Plus, there would be not other place to get it. That scheme worked well.
Then feminism came about...and I cant count anymore the number of girls I know who were devastated that they slept with a guy and he didn’t call them back or they had an abortion and it tormented them for life.

lol. I feel bad for them and I finally did tell one VERY liberal friend who was afraid of ending up a spinster to stop sleeping with the guys on the first date. That they don’t marry those girls. She was offended because it went against everything she stood for. Free love, blah blah blah, checked up on her on facebook Still single

I have an adult son, a teenage son, and a teenage daughter. My 24 yr old won't even date right now because we live in a small town and he says all the girls he knows are skanks. They have been raised/are being raised right. Good men don't want to date walking petri dishes who are bossy and loud mouthed.

My teenage son has basically started an interview process because of the last girl he took out. He said she hadn't been in the car 10 minutes and she was telling him how much she loved having sex. He said acted like he didn't hear her then he asked her if she liked sports, she said no. He plays football & going to college to be a football coach. Then he asked her where she went to Church and she told him she wasn't really "into Jesus."

When they got to the movie theatre he texted me and said I'm about ready to leave her here. I told him no just sit through the movie and take her home. Soon as he got her home he told her he wouldn't be seeing her again because they had nothing in common. He said before he takes another girl anywhere he will find out if she's a Christian, likes football, and likes music (he plays guitar) and if not, no point in going out.

I have kept my mouth shut so many times when talking to unmarried women, and divorced ones two, for one reason: Every damned one of them had a father and a mother who raised the little b*****s. I cannot fathom raising a daughter that would grow up like that, and cannot imagine the home life they had growing up.

Somebody raised them, and I suspect I know who. Some are my ex-friends, and maybe even a family member or two. I saw it going bad back then, there was not FR, and I was mostly alone. Now we see what the little acorns have turned into, after being watered and cared for these many years. There is a mental difference in parents like that from those who raise nice kids. Used to a community could shame parents into doing the right thing.

Women who hop in bed on the first date are not seen as marriage material.

Besides, why should the guy commit to someone who will treat him like shit, eventually hop in bed with someone else and then divorce him and take half his stuff?

It works the other way too. I’m female and didn’t marry because most of the guys I met were irresponsible losers. It takes two people to make a marriage work and most of the guys I knew wanted the woman to do all the work. I suppose they thought women’s lib meant they didn’t have to do anything anymore. Wrong.

Like they say, why pay for the cow when you can get the milk for free?

BTW, my wife died in 2000. I have been single since then. Very sadly so...

“most of the guys I met were irresponsible losers.”

Could it be that they had been divorced at least once before?
