Common mistakes while bugging out
SHTF School ^ | 4/11/15 | Selco

Bugging out is something that I once failed to do, because I did not even realize that it needed to be done, actually I saw what was happening but I did not „proccess“ the information in correct way, so I stay and had to go trough whole period of watching, doing, and getting hit by violence, together with being cold, hungry, sick and everything else.

Because bugging out is so important and survival done right is often not getting into survival situations in the first place I stress importance of bugging out (if you are not already live in great bug out location anyway)

Consider the following couple of mistakes that I witnessed (more than one time).

I’m already ‘up and out’ but Selco’s words are spot on.

Of late I’m starting to think it is the government which we the people should be preparing to repel AFTER the collapse is orchestrated. Those MRAPs will make excellent urban assault vehicles in burbs decimated by marauders rampaging for food, drinkable water, and weapons. The government nanny will sweep in to take all that can be found stored in the burbs so they can feed their government dependents.

Those MRAP thingies will have crews. Those crews have addresses and families. So will the folks who are giving the orders.

Just saying....

Stay alert. Be observant. Keep your mouth shut.

When the time comes, act.

I live in a bug out location.

I will bug out to home.

Our theme song was sung by Hank Williams Jr.

The preacher man says it’s the end of time
And the Mississippi River she’s a goin’ dry
The interest is up and the Stock Markets down
And you only get mugged
If you go down town

I live back in the woods, you see
A woman and the kids, and the dogs and me
I got a shotgun rifle and a 4-wheel drive
And a country boy can survive
Country folks can survive

I can plow a field all day long
I can catch catfish from dusk till dawn
We make our own whiskey and our own smoke too
Ain’t too many things these ole boys can’t do
We grow good ole tomatoes and homemade wine
And a country boy can survive
Country folks can survive

Because you can’t starve us out
And you cant makes us run
Cuz we’re them old boys raised on shotgun
And we say grace and we say Ma’am
And if you ain’t into that we don’t give a damn

We came from the West Virginia coalmines
And the Rocky Mountains and the and the western skies
And we can skin a buck; we can run a trout line
And a country boy can survive
Country folks can survive

I had a good friend in New York City
He never called me by my name, just hillbilly
My grandpa taught me how to live off the land
And his taught him to be a businessman
He used to send me pictures of the Broadway nights
And I’d send him some homemade wine

But he was killed by a man with a switchblade knife
For 43 dollars my friend lost his life
Id love to spit some beechnut in that dudes eyes
And shoot him with my old 45
Cause a country boy can survive
Country folks can survive

Cause you can’t starve us out and you can’t make us run
Cuz we’re them old boys raised on shotgun
And we say grace and we say Ma’am
And if you ain’t into that we don’t give a damn

We’re from North California and south Alabam
And little towns all around this land
And we can skin a buck; we can run a trot-line
And a country boy can survive
Country folks can survive

“Those MRAP thingies will have crews.”

Something I heard an earlier prepper say: “You gotta get out of the tank to take a dump sometime.”

“Country folks can survive”

I moved to my bug-out location. All the neighbors in the holler are conservative, armed, and practicing self-suffiency. Most have a garden they are working on that are 1/2-1 acre and have animals. I’m not quite there, but will be. There is a creek for water running down the holler - and the holler can be easily blocked off.

I ain’t leaving.

Let the revolution begin.

I’m not quite there, but will be.

This is an older picture, however I have found that 4x4 gardening and taking it vertical yields a great many crops. I have added a fence (both vinyl and electric) and gone vertical in 8 of the beds. I will be adding cold frames to push 3 crop rotations this year.

Google vertical gardening and square foot gardens to start. It is a much more discrete and viable option.

I do have supplies ready for drip irrigation if we should move into a SHTF situation. At this point, we do not have time to can everything and my Wife takes the excess produce to the office.

If you’re still living in a city - or, even if in the country and do not have your own well water, established gardens, cold cellar and canning jars full, laying hens, etc., a wood stove and secure source of wood - and means of protection - you’re too late.

Remember the parable of the bridesmaids - trim your wicks and carry extra oil.
